If he turns out to be a 10ppg 4 apg and plays good defence runs the offence properly. He's worth it. Think about how many worse contracts there are out there. It could have been a much worse contract. Agood role player makes much more than this look at Bobby Simmons...This is an acceptable contract. The Raps roster is starting to fill out nicely. i think he will blossom In Toronto.

Interesting, Salmon's stats for the year when Iverson was injured.

15.1 PPG
7.5 Assists
6.4 Rebounds
1.9 steals

Yep, BC is really having an impact beyond the moves he's made. Toronto is not just for ice fisherman and igloo architects anymore!

I like the type of player Salmons is, good all round skills and is really on the cusp of breaking out. Just like drafting a player based on potential, players are signed to seemingly bloated contracts for the same reason. Can anybody say Nene?

Another good pickup...but now Sam going to have to find PT for Parker, Salmons, Mo Pete and Joey Graham. Who will be the odd man out? Maybe Salmons will be playing a similar role that Brandon Roy will have in Portland (SG/PG). He'll likely give TJ a break at the point in addition to his SG duties, and with the waiving of Barrett this seems more likely.

I'm happy with the pick up of an athletic player like Salmons. If our team can execute a style of play a la phoenix, that Colangelo wants, then it's just inviting a player like Salmons to break out.

I do think that 5 years is a long time. There is more risk invovled in a long term deal, look what happened with Alvin Williams. But i agree atracting a player with a long term deal is probably better then attracting one with a bloated contract.

What about PJ Tucker? It seems to me he has to play 2 or 3, and surely we made that pick intending to play him.
And what's Garbejosa going to play? Is he big enough for the 4?
I mean, if he like puts his hands up on d and stays in front of his man, then I won't complain, it just looks like a weird rotation to me.

Default Predicted Team for 2006-2007

Starters: PG T.J. Ford Bench: Jose Calderon
SG Anthony Parker John Salmons
SF Morris Peterson Joey Graham/Jorge Garbajosa
PF Chris Bosh Kris Humphries/Uros Slokar
C Rasho Nesterovic Andrea Bargnani

Inactive: Alvin Williams/P.J. Tucker

= 5 players from last years roster remain!!! WOW so much change...and if they start winning then Babcock will never be GM Again Ever!!

15 Player Roster

Slokar replacing Pape Sow Due To injury...
they could also have Slokar on the inactive list but P.J. Has been very bad in summer league...

This is a very good/Deep team!!!!

When Iverson didnt play he averaged something like 15,6 and 7. He has potential and could be a suprise player aka Boris Diaw.

Toronto was 5 years 23 millions. about 250k more a year. Only reason he came here was because he saw the instability of the rotation, and he planned on making a push for starter. thats good news for us, he'll be playing his ass off

This is what im expecting the minute breakdown to be.

TJ Ford (34) | Jose Calderon (14)
Morris Peterson (34) | John Salmons (14)
Anthony Parker (24) | Joey Graham (24)
Chris Bosh (18) | Andrea Bargnani (20) | Garbajosa (10)
Rasho Nesterovic (28) | Chris Bosh (20)

Graham, Salmons and Parkers minutes will vary each and every game depending on who is playing better. One game Joey will play like 30 minutes where another game he'll play like 14. Garbajosa will also get some time at SF and HUmphries will get some time at PF as well. We are a pretty deep team now and we look to be very balanced. Aside from Ford and Bosh being the primary scorer/playmaker and Mo Pete being that legit 3rd option, we are going to need at least 2 other guys to step up big for us each night. Hopefully Bargnani, Joey, Parker or Salmons can do that for us. I have faith though and we will make the playoffs.

I just hope he helps improve us defensively. We need those stops at crunchtime.

That looks right, although I imagine Andrea would play the 5 spot as well, and Garbajosa will get decent pt, not third string minutes.

From that list, where do you think Humphries will play?

This could be a sleeper free agent signing.

Creates competition on the team. Ultimately it won't be Sam who decides but the players performance will determine PT.
