Default Slokar on his Way to T.O

http://sportal.siol.net/default.asp?articl...7201351450

Its in Slovenian but a guy in my office told me That he's glad to come over and seize the opportunity, 2 teams were interested in him and he felt the timing was right to come to T.O. The deal is for 1yr and player opt for the next year. Hes glad to be joining teamates such as Rasho, Andrea and Garbajosa and understands that he will have to work his tail off to earn some PT.

Probably all because of Pape's injury, hopefully Slokar delivers.

Interested in seeing what he can do.

I am interested in seeing how all these new players do and mesh together.

Reading up on his scouting report/description, he seems to me like a poor man's Andrea Bargnani, though he may be a bit better rebounder. Not exactly the kind of guy that will help out defensively. Oh well..

I like Slokar. Not the defensive guy Sow is, but probably is considered a better overall player, by far.

I'm just wondering... why??

I don't have a wealth of knowledge on this guy but it's hard to believe that he will provide anymore value that Kris Humphries (who is already a 3rd stringer).

I assume this means either Slokar or Tucker will be headed to the NBDL. Because one of them will get absolutely NO playing time whatsoever.

But then Slokar will likely be doing nothing but riding the bench. If things go as they seem right now, he'll be behind Bosh, Rasho, Bargnani, Garbajosa, and Humphries in the 2 frontcourt spots.

Unfortunately there are upto 3 guys that can be on the inactive list and most teams have extra guys in case of injury. It does give him exposure in practices playing against other NBA players.

It was an obvious that he was comin to Toronto for a while now. If you ask me, this guy was a steal last year. I didn't know him when they drafted him but I watched old clips PLUS the Summer League and this guy is dominent...whoever thinks he is not much of a defensive presence is wrong. This guy can be good at times. He is a good defender but has his off and on nights....so basically....this guy is good but he is a poor-poor-poor mans Gasol...

he was a second round pick and i believe signed a one year contract with a player option for a second year. My guess is the raptors want to have him playing against their starters in practice, see how he does, give him very few minutes and then if he shows potential sign him to a longer contract. I dont see him averaging 10 min per game this year.
