Default Why Jones over Parker?

In my opinion Parker is the older better more rounded player and will start at SF/SG with Mo being the other. Fred will be coming off the bench for cusr they're not even comparable. Why does everyone in the forum put him ahead of Parker?

Who does?

I think most of the reasonable Raptors fans have the starting five set at:

TJ Ford
Anthony Parker
Morris Peterson
Chris Bosh
Rasho Nesterovic

Depending on how training camp goes, Fred Jones could be the first guard off the bench (him or Jose).

parker will definetely be starting over jones.

ford + jones is too small a backcourt. that, and we need parker's experience in our starting lineup.

The problem is Parker's lack of NBA experience. He's an experienced guy....in the game. But there will still be a learning curve. I think Parker needs to start though, with his better size and better range. Jones is the first guard for sure off the bench.

i still think that you will see Sam go big.

mo pete /parker might play significant 2 minutes. jones might even play 1 minutes

if abarge can play a big 3 (his shooting suggests he can) and defend half arse at the other end you will see mo-pete back in the 2 spot often.

especially against the eastern teams.

philly, boston, atlanta, orlando, nets.

these teams dont have waves of bigs guys to bang under the basket. even orlando which is better off than the others ... i mean do you expect dmilo to bang?

Bosh, Rasho, Humpries, JGarb, ABarge. Pape if he comes back. don't be surprised to see Loren Woods back on a 1 year if they retire Alvin.

i think you will see the Raptors go big often to create mis-matches for o-rebounds and then the 1/2 just gotta jack it up near the rim and let the big boys tip it in.

Agreed, although i think Parker will start i think the time will be evenly split between him and Jones, i see Fred playing just as vital a role as Parker and Mo pete.

Jose Calderon?? He sucks!!! I think Fred Jones will get tiny bit less time on the floor with Parker getting most of it.

I think Parker will start. However, the first substitution (other than Rasho) will be Jones for Parker. Parker will then come back in to relieve Ford with Parker now running the point and guarding the opposing SG. Parker was the primary ballhander for Macabi so he and Jones could co-exist in the backcourt together for short stretches. Also it never hurts to have a real quick backcourt with Ford and Jones.

There are more options here than at first glance.

Ya Parker would start. His size fits in nicely into the starting lineup. Fred will be an important player off the bench.

I haven't seen anyone put Jones ahead of Parker. Parker will start over Jones.

the starting job is parkers to lose in training camp. All the discusion on possible raps line ups becomes so complicated this season because everyone on the roster can fill at least 2 spots accept Rasho, so im not gonna even try to guess anything.

I will say that the talent level between our prospective starters and many of our bench players are very similar so it all depends on performance. Particularly at the 2 and 3. Obvioiusly Bosh and T.J are locked.

guys just remember just because Parker played good in another league, that doesnt mean that hes going to play good in the NBA. Sarunas, former teammate of Parker at Tel Aviv now playing with the Indiana Pacers, also came from another league and he was a 3 times MVP there, and he is having trouble adjusting to the fast pace NBA, and Pacers arent even a fast pace team...so dont count Fred Jones out, he might not start in the beginning but near the middle of the season he might
