Yes, that's why I didn't close down this thread because of the salary cap comment. Kobe EARNED what he deserves by winning 5 championships and staying in the Lakers organization for his entire career. On the other hand, Lin just got a huge contract outta the blue.

It's funny how people sweat how much Kobe is paid as if it is coming out of their pockets. The Lakers would be over the cap even if he took a Tim Duncan type payday. Its irrelevant.

Contracts are not created soley in the vacuum of the basketball court especially with big profile names. Marketing is a huge factor in determining the contract worth of a big name athlete. There is no way Jeremy Lin is worth 25 mil solely based on his on court production ... but the marketing $$$ ...
