Default lowest draft pick to win an MVP?

Who's the lowest draft pick to have won an MVP? I think it's Steve Nash, 15th pick, won 2 MVPs.

I love Nash, but he hardly deserved those MVPs.

This def could of just been googled and to ^, Nash may not of deserved the MVP's via stats but it is the most VALUABLE player award and he was def the most valuable both seasons + he deserved to have 3 in a row.

How valuable can he be if his team never even made the Finals?

It's not as if they were short on talent...

Nor can you convince me he was as important to Phoenix as Kobe was to LA in '06. Or Shaq was to Miami in '05.

    Phoenix Suns 03-04 (29-53)

    Phoenix Suns 04-05 (62-20)

LeBron didn't make the Finals these last 2 years but it's pretty hard to argue that he didn't deserve them. You shouldn't use post-season success as a gauge for a regular season award

And how exactly Nash was the most valuable? He was great, but there were far more valuable players, like KG and TD, because they were elite both sides of the floor. Purely offensively I would have taken Shaq and Dirk, even Lebron over Nash.

I'm not saying Nash didn't make the team better but there were other factors that helped the Suns turn around.

Nash is a great player no doubt, but you'll never be able to convince me he should've won two MVP's. That's some pretty steep company right there. He simply doesn't belong in the same tier as the other guys who won multiple times.

What he did that season warrants it. You simply can't ignore a turnaround like that franchise had with plenty of common players on both teams. You took out Marbury (an already good PG at the time) and added Nash and saw a 30+ game increase in the win column. It was a unique situation, but to discount his accomplishment solely because players in the past who did the same were BETTER is unfair.

Had Nash been Black, he wouldn't even have one MVP award.

Exactly. And "pure" offense is only a small factor in the equation of valuable and I don't know how I would explain "valuable" but the style of ball he was playin over those years made him the most valuable basketball player for a team in the NBA
