A guy who was new at my work recently has one of these and he says it's popular and is a ring to commit to the fact that you plan to get engaged eventually. Is it just a way to shut up your girlfriend when she wants to get married and you don't want to actually commit yet but you want her to think you will?

Thats true, my girlfriend is talk about it too. I don't care wearing one because I don't really see myself breaking up with her so it kinda works. In a way its for some guys that want to shut their girlfriends up, but for others it's showcasing commitment towards each other.

my girlfriend has been talking about getting married and asking how I would propose and when would I want to get married and stuff. Personally I don't really see the point in getting married at all, if your with someone for a long period and living together your already committed, marriage just seems like a big ordeal to me
