I've always wondered how people can just repeat this as if it was a fact, when it never happened. This video alone shows Kobe scoring 40 of his 55 points. Only 3 of those 40 points came with Jordan defending him. Let me repeat this:

3 out of 40 points. Which means if all of the rest of Kobe's points came on Jordan, that would make it 18. Best case scenario here is Kobe drops 18 on Jordan. Don't believe me? Watch the video and count it yourself. The only points Kobe scores on Jordan here come at the 3:10 mark, and is a 3 pointer from the corner. Other than that? Not a single point is on Jordan in this video. Yet somehow, people always like to site this game as the one in which "Kobe schooled MJ for 55"

That would be a great story of rivalry and passing the torch to tell people...if it ever happened.
