No playoff teams were offering Artest more than the mid-level anyway. Think of the teams with cap space last summer... Detroit, Toronto, Portland, Memphis... none were interested in him.

and we know they ended up not moving wally's contract. so could this serve as evidence that they won't trade big z as to not mess up chemistry, or is it even more incentive to trade him- seeing as how they did not win it all last year, could they have won it last year had they moved wally for another piece? and its not like they would be even losing big z, whereas they would be losing wally. they would most likely get him back with a buyout.
bottom line- i would be surprised if they did NOT trade him. not trading wally's contract last season may have hurt them in the playoffs as they didn't have enough pieces to beat orlando. they shouldn't repeat that mistake.

I was surprised last year when they didn't move wally and other expiring contracts at the deadline like everyone assumed they would so this year I wont make an assumption but i wouldn't be surprised one way or another.

Pretty bogus they didn't trade Wally last year. They could have had a solid starter for him (Vince Carter last year) and they now have nothing to show for him or his expiring deal. Could have done a lot better.

i think they do just b/c last season they could have had a lot of good players like shaq or vince carter and some others if they traded wally, it could be a reason they lost to orlando, so they feel forced to trade Z, plus hed prob be bought out

why bring over VC and screw with chemistry when the cavs looked fine at the time? Cleveland was in the market for a big, there were no teams biting on the wally deal. For example the suns wanted Ben's K, not Wally's for Shaq. Ferry didn't want to make a move for the sake of making a move.
It will help you understand how expiring contracts, and cap space works.

Why because you take a talent upgrade over a one year rental on an ailing jump shooter. They showed by bringing in Shaq that they weren't afraid to make a big move. And the fact they lost last year shows that something went wrong, hindsight is 20/20 but I said at the time they should have moved Wally for an upgrade.

And the most telling factoid - Cav's stuck by him through all those foot operations and years when he couldn't play. Z could of signed with another team , but resigned with the Cav's for this run.
Loyality runs through the team organization as well as the player.

Read the whole post. I think we will trade him. But he will ask for a buy out from the team or just retire on the spot.

The guy I think that has made the Cav's alittle scary to the rest of the league , is JJ.
Cav's were kind of weak on the frontline , and with JJ and Shaq there is a presence in the lane now.
West , Parker and even Moon could be moved for another big as long as Mo comes back healthy.
Even this new guy from the development league , if he shows he has handles and can play some 'd' - he could see a contract for the rest of the year , and he would come cheap.
