Boston is looking more solid by the minute but it's crazy to call them NBA Champs ahead of time before seeing them play together as a team...

It would be nice to see them have success though,,Always liked Allen, Pierce, and KG and glad they have a chance to make something happen before their careers are over

Can't stand it when players take far less than their worth to play on a contender.

Of course, that comes from a fan of a team that has to overpay for everybody just to get people to even consider playing for them.

Would have loved to have Posey play for the Jazz, and could have given him more money than Boston did. But, LHM is avoiding the luxury tax like the plague, and so we will have to get better by developing the talent that we have.

But I digress. A very solid signing for Boston.

GREAT signing. Bench experience is just what they needed.

getting Posey is a GREAT signing.

They've still got holes obviously. Mostly as far as the PG spot goes. Rondo's ok but he's a horrible fit for this team. He plays D and can bring the ball up... otherwise his skills are useless to this team in particular. But with Pierce, Allen and KG all you really need is about 5 players who cover the positions and impacts on the game that those 3 don't. And Posey is definitely a step in the right direction. They've got their 3rd big in place, Glen Davis. They've got their backup PG, Rondo. And I'd say that their Center situation, with Kandi and/or Perkins, is good enough. Both these guys are pretty good defensively, not the smartest players on the planet but not a liability either.

They still need that PG. if they get it, they're set. they're a complete team. until then..... they're still probably winning a championship but I wouldn't call it a lock.

You'd have overpayed both of them. Anyone who plays with Shaq becomes instantly overrated.

Esp. since Posey probably wanted a bigger deal than what BOS gave him from MIA.
Nah Posey was doing things in Memphis before he went to Miami as I recall. He was considered a solid roleplayer before he went to Miami. granted he was not considered any kind of shooter, so Shaq might have made his 3 ball look a little better than it is. however...... with all the attention Allen, Pierce and KG will attract I imagine he'll have the same situation in Boston.

Pose actually did not take less. It was not that type of situation, a veteran taking less to play for a contender...Boston offered him the best of what was left on the market....

Pose thought he could fetch a full MLE deal but that never was the case as he got caught in a shaky FA market with alot of the contending teams up againist the tax. So yeah Boston gave him the best deal and he took it...

I'm sure part of the reason Posey bolted for Boston was because the Celtics have a much brighter future than the Heat do.

So I guess in reality he costs them $6 mil a season because of the tax.

As for another PG, if Darrell Armstrong ends up being cut from the Pacers they could perhaps get him. If the Jazz don't re-sign Dee Brown they could maybe get him too. Otherwise it'd be someone like Dickau or McInnis. I don't think Boykins would sign for the minimum.

If they could get just one veteran big man on that team (besides Pollard), they would be set, IMO.

If not, they'll still be in very good shape. It's good that they didn't let Posey go to NJ like I was reading earlier today.

What else should Rondo be doing on their team?

He does well exactly what the Celtics need of him and that's defense and playmaking.
How the hell is he a terrible it?
With big 3, scoring is the least of their problems. Rondo does just about everything they need from a PG.

Anyway, I agree that they need another veteran big and they're set.

The champs are here.

I don't think exceptions count on the lux tax, so I think it will just be 3mil.

I and others have repeatedly said that the team just needed to be good to attract players, while people that know nothing repeatedly spouted all that "no one wants to play in racist Boston" garbage.

good players is all it takes. hell, in 3 years free agents might be taking less money to play in cold Minnesota than signing with Phoenix.

i love what Boston has done (mostly because my team is out West). in my 20+ years of being an NBA fanatic im trying to think of a time that can match how a team went from absolutely horrible with no future (lottery night) to a contender (on paper) so quickly.

it feels right to have Boston being a scary team. there's something about it. it could be nostalgia on my part, but the league feels much more exciting when there's playoff action on the parquet floors. now only if LA can field a playoff team....

no the best bench player... but good for the Greens... they desperately need a deeper bench and Posey is one of the better players remainining in the FA... still PG's to spot to fill...
