The team played best against the Hornets when...
Mike Taylor and Baron Davis were on the floor together.
Did anyone else notice this?
If Baron Davis wasn't such a good point guard, he quite probably could still be an all-star at the 2. When there is another guy in the lineup like Mike Taylor who can initiate the offense, it allows Baron to switch up his role and unleash more of his own offense.
Gordon played great don't get me wrong, but he really doesnt have the ability to create for others. With Baron and Taylor in there, it really took the pressure off Baron and allowed him to be a scorer, while still having a capable distributor at the point. THeir chemistry was really, really nice. It allows Baron to play the 1 or the 2 on any given possession, depending on which matchup is most favorable. Not to mention their defensive chemistry seemed really on point.
Mike Taylor actually reminds me a lot of Rajon Rondo. I think Dunleavy should continue to pair him and Baron together on the court for stretches. Obviously Gordon should continue to get big minutes as well, but somethin about Taylor and Baron in their together seemed to really work. Maybe it was a fluke? I dunno, but they need to try it again to find out. They seem to be a harmonious pair both offensively and defensively.
