NBA 2K12: My Player Mode

My player is at the top of the all star voting, out of all positions in both conferences. Some of the factors I think that go into it are your age, popularity, your rating, and your season stats. My guy's teammate/league/fanbase ratings are 98/100/100. I'm rated a 98, and am having a spectacular season while leading the league in points and steals. I'm not cheesing it either, I'm just barely ahead of Durant in scoring (28.9 vs 28.7). I think if you've been popular for a while that makes a difference too. This is my fifth season and have already won 3 chips and an MVP.

Well yeah, I figured that much. I'm a rookie and it's like past years of My Player where you had to work your way up from not even being among the top 10 vote-getters at your position towards the top and hopefully getting in, regardless of how good your numbers are.

Anyway, what difficulty level and how many minute quarters are you playing on? While I do enjoy putting up insane numbers (I usually get bored with it by the end of my rookie season and go all the way up to HOF or Superstar) I also just want to get my guy to the point where I can sim some games and not have to worry about him putting up lines of 18/2/2 on 7/22 shooting.

I'm playing the default difficulty (pro I think) with 12 min quarters, but I play off the ball quite a bit on offense. Only reason I'm still playing most of the games is because I'm trying to win DPOY with my SF (#1 in voting so far almost halfway through the season). But yeah, I'll still sim 5-6 games at a time and my scoring will go from 30-40 ppg to 20-21 ppg on bad FG%. My other stats don't seem to suffer as much though, if anything my rebounds and assists on average are better simmed than they are when I play. My steals and blocks suffer too, but not by much.

Last game was a tough loss to the Celtics. In the 3rd quarter, me and Pierce exchanged baskets after baskets. It was pretty much like that until Dirk started chucking open shots in the 4th. Miguel Pietrus and Pablo Pierce lit us up.

In my last game against the Heat, I played poorly. I shot only 6-15 and had 4 turnovers (like 2 of them were BS though). I finished with 20/5/4. But the crazy thing about this game is that Pekovic hit the game winner for us. I missed the potential game winner, but Pekovic got the offensive rebound and somehow put it in with 0.3 seconds left We ended up winning 98-96.

Damn, does anyone know if you lose attribute points over time, as you age and shit? I'm in the middle of my second year and most of the stats I maxed out or watnot have decreased by 1 when I check my in game box score player card... I couldn't dunk all of a sudden in one game and I checked it out and that's what I saw...my 40 dunk dropped to 39 lol. I'm not injured either btw

Searched online, and didn't really find anything about it. Is that a feature or is my game fukked up lol?

I haven't noticed that in 2K12, though it was common in 2K11.

How massive? like 20 mpg? I would be fine with 30-35, I've been playing for like 40-45 mpg since being a starter.

Just finished my sophomore season with my PG. We broke the '96 Bulls regular season win total with a 74-8 record. I ended up winning both MVP and MIP with averages of 26/3/8 and like 5 steals per game on percentages of 50/37/88.

Interesting Note: Even though I only averaged 8 assists per game, I still ended up being the league leader because Rondo (the only player who averaged more assists than I did) missed more than 2 games so he didn't qualify lol.

Just got the game a couple of days ago and started playing my player. I made a 6ft 3 point specialist PG and got drafted to the jazz We're pretty bad. Finally took over the starting pg position over Devin Harris and averaging 10/2/5. Gotta get use to these controls.

I haven't noticed that in 2K12, though it was common in 2K11.

Oh lol k, thanks for the info. Kinda sucks, just thought it was sorta weird the game didn't really tell me about it or anything, and didn't really read much of anything about it online. Doesn't make too much sense either cause I made my guy as young as possible, and in his second year he's like only 19 or 20, but his skills have dropped off already? Damn.

Is it me or are the Warriors like the hardest team to defend, f*cking christ! They never f*cking miss 3 pointers even when you're draped all over them. Also, Steph Curry is a god in this game. Dude dropped like 40 on me and was 7-9 on 3 pointers. We still won but, holy shit!!
