wow i didnt know that I wonder what caused the pigment in the skin to darken. I guess ill have to re-phrase that to Finley the apeman anyway just bored props again to Fin.
skin pigmentation is driectly related to viatamin D intake.
If you skin is pale it can aborb vitamin D quickly
If your skin is dark it aborbs vitamin D slowly
light skinned people originate from places with long dark winters and less sunlight. Their pale skin is an adaptation to their environment and allows them to maximize vitamin D intake. This is why they burn when there is too much direct sunlight.
dark skinned people originate from areas close to the equator where the sunlight is much more common and powerful. They absorb vitamin D at a slower healthier rate for their heavily sunned environs.
If you walked from the equator to the North Pole there would be no line where people went from black to white, they gradually get lighter.
Light skinned people put their health in danger when they move to sunny areas (high skin cancer rates in Australia).
Dark skinned people often suffer depression in northern climates. Items such as sun boxes have proven successful in curing depression of tropicl people in Northern environs.
My guess is there were probably black 'cavemen' jsut like there were cavemen of all colors because caves made good homes at one time.
