It's interesting seeing the contrast in styles here as the producers of Conan(Dino De Laurentiis) originally wanted Morricone to score the movie. Milius(Conan's director) pushed hard for Poledouris. Three years later, Dino De Laurentiis got his wish when he hired Morricone to score a similar sword&sorcery flick in Red Sonja(which featured two primary cast members from Conan). I prefer Basil's score - It's a darker, more complex and holds more nostalgic value for me. Both great OSTs though, among the best in the fantasy genre.
