Default Re: Which is more realistic ?:: Howard to celtics or Howard to the lakers.

Lebron for Dwight would actually be terrific for Lebron, because he'd instantly get the public's sympathy. Plus the Heat would win a championship and Lebron would still go ring-less. It's a win-win!

The longer the lockout is, the longer it hurts the lakers chances in getting dwight

Both are long shots. Boston has little in the way of trade assets, while they have a great deal of cap space available once Howard becomes available. The one thing Boston has to offer over LA is their potential willingness to take on whatever bad contracts Orlando is willing to shed. Whether it be Arenas or Hedo, Boston would do it in the summer of 2012 if it meant acquiring Howard. LA could likely make the required maneuvers to do it as well but it would be a much more manageable, comfortable fit for the Celtics.

LA has the potential trade fodder, but I question the likelihood of Orlando taking back the contracts of aging stars and glorified role players. Artest isn't the defensive stalwart he was in 2004, while Odom is certainly nobody you want to rely on too heavily without any real contingency plan or option 1B to fall back on. Anyone tossing Walton or Blake into trade scenarios should just quit.

If it's a Bynum+Gasol thing, I still don't see it happening. Too much up in the air with both of those guys as far as performance and health is concerned. Orlando, despite Otis Smith's nature of making serious bonehead moves, is smart enough to realize there are better offers out there with much younger/safer, more complimentary pieces (OKC, Memphis, et al).

the longer the lockout is the shorter the period the lakers have to negotiate a deal
