I agree, if you start smoking weed at birth and do it 4+ times a week until you are 38, you probably will have problems.

The sad part about these studies is that you can't isolate a variable like weed. The most you can really say is "a lot of losers in NZ smoke weed." Which is prol true.

You can definitely isolate the effects of different variables like weed. That write up doesn't give too much information. It would be nice to see the socioeconomic back ground of the heavy users and what criteria was used to determine heavy use at each of the 5 checks. Five checks over nearly 40 years isn't very helpful, and they only required 3 of the 5 to be positive for someone to be classified as heavy dependence. Would also be nice to see how balanced their treatments were across the 17% of the sample they considered to be users.
