With the 39th pick in the 2011 InsideHoops NFL Mock Draft, the Tennessee Titans select:

Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois Fighting Illini

6'2", 298 lbs

"Strengths:

* Good size, strength, and explosiveness
* Has quick feet and good change-of-direction ability for a big man
* Consistently gets good pressure up the middle from both the nose and the three technique
* Has the upper body strength and hands to shed blockers
* Has an initial violent punch off the line
* Good run defender who has a low center of gravity, plays with a strong base, and uses good leverage
* Anchors well at the point of attack
* Excellent tackler

Weaknesses:

* Lacks the speed to run down plays from behind
* Tends to wear down at the end of games

Bottom Line on Corey Liuget:
Corey Liuget is a versatile defensive lineman who could play either defensive tackle position in a 4-3 set or the nose tackle spot in a 3-4. He holds the point of attack against the run, and handles double teams fairly well. But the thing that will make him most attractive to NFL teams is his ability to penetrate and be a disruptive force in opposing backfields.

Projection: Liuget could be selected as high as the middle of the first round, and should be gone for sure by early in the second."

With the 41st pick in the 2011 InsideHoops NFL Mock Draft, the Washington Redskins select:

Muhammad Wilkerson, DT, Temple Owls

6'4", 315 lbs

"Pros

* Great size and long arms
* Explosive, fires out of his stance and gets to work right away
* Very athletic, good quickness, speed, and lateral movement
* Very strong. Pure strength and long arms make Bull Rush very effective
* Is a fit as a DE in a 3-4, and both DT spots in a 4-3
* Active and strong hands
* Effective run stopper, can control multiple gaps, and stacks and sheds blockers well
* Very high upside

Cons

* Pad level will often get too high
* Needs to play with better leverage
* Technique as penetrator is very raw
* Has not played against good competition
* Will sometimes get stonewalled at POA, due getting out of his stance upright

Overall

Everybody is in love with Muhammad Wilkerson, he fits every defensive scheme, is already an excellent football player, and with experience and NFL level coaching, he can be great. As mentioned Wilkerson could do well in any defensive scheme. As a 5 Technique in a 3-4 defense, he fits the bill because of his ability to control 2 gaps, eat up space, and get off his blocks and make tackles. Because of his combination of size, strength, and athletic ability he could also play both Tackle positions in a 4-3 defense. All Wilkerson's weaknesses are not physical weaknesses, but things that can be coached. Pad level, leverage, and hand placement should all be improved on when coached up by Professional D-Line coaches. The more I look at Wilkerson the more I like him, he may take some time to develop, but there is very little preventing him from being a dominant NFL Defensive Lineman"

Funny looking back at this and seeing Bowers going 1 overall, when he fell to the 51st pick to Tampa.

This mock draft was way off but the 2010 mock wasn't too far off.

yeah it was before news of his injury was released

I think that news was released while this draft was going on, because I remember thinking about how it screwed this whole thing up.
