Default If guys are better shooters now then how come..

    https://www.basketball-reference.com...NBA_stats.html

League average FT% has remained virtually unchanged for 40 years, despite the fact that perimeter players are taking a much larger percentage of free throws now than historically?

Is it because you can't legislate defensive rules on free throws?

FT's haven't changed much, it's 3's that players have gotten better at with bigger use and practice...

percentages have improved even though attempts have become far deeper and more wild.

OP is using FTs because that is one of the aspects of shooting that has not changed and will not change based on era/rules. It is the one constant between this and past eras and is the absolute most fundamental form of shooting. Spacing wont affect FTs.

People say that there were thugs and goons in the league back in Jordan's eras with no skills that were just meant to play the caveman bully role out there. If that's true, then why is the FT% virtually unchanged?

    Good thread OP

[B]Players are better 3-point shooters because the statistical staffs have figured out that shooting certain amount of threes an making them is more efficient than a bunch of twos. The game has changed alot i can
