Aldo & Connor would destroy Bruce.
Simple minded **** I won't argue with a fool. Basketball is not MMA.
Bruce Lee was a genius. Educated and discplined--true embodiment of a mixed martial artist. McGregor is not--he's a trash talker. Give them both the same career path and resources and i'll go with the genius any day of the week.
Can't wait for Aldo to pummel this clown because UFC is turning into WWE. Bruce Lee would not approve.

Who cares what he thinks? He was an actor first and foremost. That was his main job. Being an actor.
He isn't Ronda Rousey, or Randy Couture, Rampage Jackson, Antonio Tarver... Their job is fighting first, and making movies on the side.
What is his combat record? Dude was 5'6 and 135lbs...
McGregor would flatten him.
I love Bruce, and what he taught, and just the pure aesthetics of it all. But he isn't the best fighter in the world, or close, nor was he ever close.
A 5'6, 135lbs male is limited, no matter which way you want to look at it. KAJ would have folded his ass in 15 seconds had it not been a movie.

He isn't Ronda Rousey,
He was an actor first and foremost, eh? That sh1t is beyond laughable. Almost disrespectful to be honest
Is anyone supposed to take your opinion on Bruce Lee seriously after you've made this statement? I for one can not, for obvious reasons.

What was he famous for? Being a martial arts actor.
He wasn't famous for being a great fighter.
And "first and foremost" means that his acting career was paramount, and his main occupation.

First and foremost Bruce was a martial artist. That's what he was born and raised being passionate about. That's what he dedicated his life to. NOT ACTING
Acting was supplementary to Bruce's identity.
If you, and others want to remember him as an actor that's great.
That doesn't change the facts about Bruce or his life or all that he accomplished as a martial artist. It doesn't change the fact that to all martial arts fans he is famous for that and not acting. He is still a hero and inspiration to more fighters than he is actors, I'd say that speaks volumes about what he was REALLY famous for.

In the same way Jackie Chan is an inspiration to martial artists instead of actors. You seem him do some cool shit, and you want to be able to do it, not act it out.
He is a martial artist, yes. It is what he was raised doing. He became famous for being a martial arts actor. Where is the problem?
He isn't a fighter. He doesn't have an official record. He isn't and would more than likely never have been a UFC champion. Mainly because he wouldn't compete.
He falls into the same realm as Michael Jai White. Both martial artists know as actors, who don't fight.

Agree with the overall sentiment and appreciate the Jackie Chan comparison, makes sense.
Bruce was a succesful martial arts actor and there is nothing wrong with him being famous for that.
Neither of those things change the fact that he is one of the most successful and famous martial artists of all time. Widely considered the greatest fighter ever by absurd amounts of famous fighters.

To me considering him the best fighter of all time is along the same lines of getting the best shooter in the world for basketball, someone who hits 90% of his shots from anywhere on the court, but doesn't actually play professional basketball, yet calling him the best basketballer ever.
He was an inspiration to a lot of fighters, and someone to look up to. I'm sure a lot of them look to him as an idol and what not, but he simply isn't the best fighter. Particularly because he hasn't achieved much in terms of an actual combat record.
We can sit here and debate whether he would become a great fighter today or not, but I don't believe it matters too much. It wasn't how great a fighter he was that made him famous. It was his charisma, intelligence and charm that propelled him to the top.

This
Bruce was a helluva an action star and did a lot for Martial Arts in terms of making it mainstream and popular Worldwide, especially the U.S. But the man was allergic to actual fights. He would do his little one inch punch demonstrations on cab drivers and mailmen and then slip out the back when the real fighters showed up.
Benny Urquidez, a man largely forgotten by History, was far more of a pioneer for MMA than Bruce Lee ever was.

Which is a shame. Benny the Jet was a World champion kickboxer (started out in non-contact but was one of the pioneers of full contact competition fighting), he competed in boxing and wrestling when he was a kid, and later studied judo/grappling with legends like Judo Gene LeBell (who trains the likes of Ronda Rousey now) and Gokor Chivichyan. He used to travel the World challenging basically any fighter with any style in full contact combat. There used to be a video on youtube of him competing against a 250 lber in a grappling match (Urquidez was Bruce Lee's size- about 5'7" 140 lbs).
He was one of the first martial artists who studied different disciplines from karate to wrestling to judo/grappling... and he put his skills to the test against the World's best. Back in the 70s, about 2 decades before Zuffa got the bright idea to do that sort of open style vs style combat.
Meanwhile Bruce Lee was the sidekick of the Green Hornet and did demonstrations at competitions, but never actually fought anyone.
