Default Calderon injury update - not believed to be serious

Taken from a toronto star article

BEIJING–The reigning world basketball champions will get a chance to add an Olympic gold medal to their impressive list of accomplishments.

But they’ll have to do it without Jose Calderon.

A slightly torn adductor muscle kept the Raptor point guard out of Friday’s 91-86 win over Lithuania in the semifinals and will sideline him for Sunday’s gold medal game against either the United States.

Toronto officials are following up with Spanish doctors to discover the severity of the injury, treatment options and a prognosis. It’s not believed the injury is serious and with more than two months until the beginning of NBA training camps, Calderon has plenty of time to recover.

“He has a problem in one of his legs,” was how Spanish coach Aito Garcia Reneses put it. “The doctor told us it is best that he doesn’t play. We will observe the situation for the next game, but he couldn’t play today. He wasn’t ready to play because of his medical condition.”

The adductor is a group of muscles in the groin area that pull the legs together when they contract and also help stabilize the hip joint. They attach from the thigh to the pelvis.

lets hope this proves correct
