KOTOR had a suprisingly good storyline, considering it was a starwars game.

I also thought jade empire was pretty good, but I don't think to many people played that one.

I love the Resident Evil Storyline. The isolated city and the corupt bioengineering company. Then the fourth one moving toward the root of the virus' birth.
I'm really looking forward to this next one where they are allegedly going to really get into the origins of the virus.

For the GTAs, I really liked Vice City the best. It had a ton of parody, with the dated gangster image, and the Miami Vice set up. I like the ending too in the mansion. I'd take San Andreas too because of it's time references. This Liberty City, which I haven't beaten yet, at this point is still too all over the place for me. First it's one guy, then another. Dimitri is all but gone for the whole middle of the game. I may change my mind when I'm done, but I really like the era references in the previous two.

The storyline wasn't anything special at all. The game itself was good and the NPCs were really detailled. That's what made you think the story was good.

Same with Bioshock. Face it, the story was predictable and mostly very mediocre. What made the game special was its amazing setting and atmosphere.

People often credit all those little things to "storyline".

You have to like the sheer depth of the Oblivion story. I know the mean story was pretty random, but there are stacks and stacks of history books in that game. No other games takes it that far.

But again, that's setting. The storyline is what actually happens in the game and the reasons it happens.
