I got Hamels and Myers on my fantasy team. Both will be the real deal once they get it all together.

The National League is godawful. Mediocre teams like the Phillies should be nowhere near the postseason. How are they still in it when they basically gave Abreu and Lidle to the Yankees?

And I can't believe that the Marlins are within 2 games of the postseason. With a 15 million dollar payroll. Unbelievable.

So lets do away with any awards because its so godawful. Dont tell me you're one of those fans who continues to harp on which league is the best, brags about it and takes shots at the weaker league whenever they get a chance. Thus it being now. Real lame.

No I don't talk about which league is better.(even though the answer is obvious) Just an observation that outside of the Mets, mediocrity reigns. But it's a cyclical thing. 3 years ago the AL Central was made up of an ok Minnesota team and underachieving/bad teams. Now it is by far the best division in baseball.

The NL will get good again. It just stinks right now.

wait until Howard starts pulling the ball... but yeah, Howard strikes out alot, but I could care less when a player is hitting over 40+ homers, but Pujols is easily better...

He doesnt need to pull the ball. Leads the majors in opposite field HR's. Young Willie Stargell! He mess around and hit 60HR's.

Great year but the only way the writers give him MVP is if the Phillies take the wild card. Even then, putting him over Pujols and Beltran is very questionable.

Arod won it with the Rangers. Explain how he can but Ryan Howard cant. Pujols played in 117 out of 134gms. Ryan has played in 133. Beltran is the guy Ryan is competing against.

Bang #51 an inning later. This dude is incredible. Pretty soon there will be no argument. I can't see these guys not making the Wild Card with the way they are producing runs. Pitching has been decent as well.

And in those 117 games he's still put up incredible #'s.

6th in AVG, 4th in OBP, 1st in Slugging, 1st in OPS in the NL (all ahead of Howard). Assuming he stays healthy the rest of the way, he'll still be around 140 games and that's no big loss. Him and Rolen are also pretty much the only thing keeping the STL lineup going. He's been a more efficient hitter and his totals will still have all that jazz by the end of the year. And if you want to look at some of the Sabermetric stats... he leads Howard and Beltran in VORP (value over replacement player), Runs Created and is behind only Beltran in Win Shares. Both play 1B as well and Pujols does it better. And since we all know writers love guys whose teams make the playoffs, it gives Pujols another edge.

Beltran is the other guy in the race. He's having a huge year offensively and plays a premium defensive position VERY well. Playing in NYC helps his case.
