Briefly, GB played awesome tonight against a very good Bosnian team. Was dissapointed in the crowd but the Nia only holds 10000, not 20000. I understand it wasn;t good. Positive on saturday though is that the Israel game is close to a sell out, around 8000 i believe.

As a barca fan its good to see Dedovic have a good game.he is only 18 and will be a good player for us in a couple of years.12 points in 24 minutes today 3/3 2pts 2/4 3pts.In GB Deng as usual making the difference but not alone as Pops is doing phenomenally well.great signing for DKV.

Freeland is playing great too! Watch out for him when he plays for Gran Canaria, i think he is going to do some serious damage to other teams. Had a great move last night, where he went baseline and facialised his defender with a huge dunk!!

I can see Sherf being such a bad coach that israel will completely choke against england and at home but that's not likely. England is still a one player team and he's not going to get the same favorable treatment the second tour as he did the first.

We are not one player team! Does that make France a one player team with Parker (averaging 27 ppg)? By the way it's GB, not England.

Thanks for stepping in for us from scotland!!!I agree France is an even more 1 man team.I have seen Freeland various times in last few years for gran canaria had a couple good games in the ULEB.There are a lot of british players in the spanish lower leagues its a shame that they have to leave the UK to improve.Even in a team in the spainsh 3rd tear they have better chances to improve.

Why? none of these cities ,especially London are basketball cities.I was in Prague in 2006 and most of the locals didn't even have a clue that it was happening. When are we going to see the final four in basketball crazy countries like Serbia. Belgrade would be great.they have the venue for it.I don't know if Lithuania do,I suppose they will as they are hosting the eurobasket in 2011.I go to all the final fours and its really disappointing when they announce venues like Berlin and London.Prague was ok cause I love the city and the beer is cheap. Totally different atmosphere in Madrid and Athens.

Lithuania has 2 of 5 venues done, 1 confirmed and it is being built now, and 2 more are getting started. Plus the government is worrying about building a football stadium, especially with our recent results(3-0 us against Moldova, 3-0 us against Romania, 2-0 us against Austria.) Our stadiums are pathetic, but they are building one right now, it should be done in a year or 2. Lithuania will have good beer, I assure you. Prices are a different question, but it shouldn't be anywhere close to prices in London or Paris. Atmosphere should be fine, it is a basketball country after all. I'm hoping to be there, hopefully we won't embarrass ourselves, especially since the country is so racist and xenophobe.

As for the results so far, it looks like from Group A Bulgaria and Serbia will go through, I'm hoping for a Finnish miracle, won't happen, but I wouldn't mind either Bulgaria or Serbia being passed by Hungary. Hopefully, Italy stays out. Next, Group B, wow! Portugal is a joke, how in the world did they make the Eurobasket, and not just that, they made it to the next round. I'm happy that Latvia is first, hopefully Estonia finishes second and Latvia first. Group C looks very weak, if I had to root for a team, I'd pick Belgium. France should be good, obviously that's not the way it is though. I'm expecting Turkey and France to go through, Turkey for sure, France possibly. I think you can all agree with me on that. Group D, not a big fan of a single team, but I hope to see only Britain go through. So my final prediction would be Bulgaria, Serbia, Latvia, Estonia, Turkey, Britain and Bosnia-Herz. I have not seen one game, as I have no idea where I could, I don't think they are at good times since I am 5 hours behind Britain.

i noticed that brief match reports (by Ian Whittell) have appeared in The Times and The Observer papers. there was even a picture of Deng in one! haha [/sarcasm]

i also found a thread full of passionate views and heated debate about what is wrong with basketball in GB:

Great Brittan beat israel, what can I say about Sherf he's a horrible coach. England gets two free throws for one and he can't even be aware enough to get in the refs ear about it.

Great Britain is just a much better team than Israel with Deng in tow now.

A full strength GBR team would be one of the better ones in Europe:
PG: Gordon
SG: Azubuike
SF: Deng
PF: Mensah-Bonsu
CT: Archibald

with Reinking, Freeland, and Boateng off the bench.

I haven't been impressed with Deng to be honest with you, most of his points are from freethrows, 3-pointers and jumpshots. He hasn't been anything close to an unstoppable dunking machine. Israel would be 4-0 if they had a coach that put Eliyahu at the four and Casspi at the three for 35 minutes, tell them what to do, what to expect and argue with the ref for forty minutes but they don't have a coach even capable of that. Deng should of been on the bench at the end of the first quarter with foul trouble but basketball is a business and the british came out to see Deng. The israelies had the better athletes on the court but their coach is Bobby Knight and hates his players that are athletic and good.

That is over doing it a bit.A good side yes but thats it.To say they are one of the best in europe when in europe you have spain, lithuania, russia, croatia, turkey, greece, serbi s,even italy and France!! is pushing it.
Its almost like the english saying they are favourites to win the football world cup for beating croatia 1-4!!
