The Red Sox were poorly built this year, yeah. But if Theo had his way this would've been a re-building year anyway.

I think the only things that can hold the Yankees back are a questionable bullpen and I'm still not sold on their rotation. However, this might be the first team in history where their pitching is completely irrelevant. You could have any of the posters here on ISH pitching and the yankees would still be world series contenders

Because you are being such an ignorant dumb@$$. The Yankees pitching is no better than the Mets. Beltran, Wright, and Delgado will be slaming home runs all day. You seem to think you have all the answers when you have said your team was good, ours was bad, but if you look at the stats/standings, METS ARE BETTER. Don't post unless you have reasons to back up your statements.

^forgot Paul Lo Duca, who's batting like .400 since the All Star break...

The leagues play different games, if the Yanks tried to play our game, they'd get burned. The reason AL teams burn NL teams in their parks is because they are built to have good hitters 1-9, NL isn't. NL uses more strategy. But when Wang and Johnson give the Mets easy outs in the lineup, that affects the game.

These games won't be blowouts, and the Mets have more quality relievers. Aside from Rivera>Wagner, the Mets bullpen is better, hands down, even without Sanchez...

When breaking down the race for MVP, a player's team's playoff picture generally has some effect on the standings of a candidate. Whether that should have an effect or not aside, do you think it WILL have an effect on the AL Cy Young voting this year? We know it's a close race, so will the mere fact that Santana's on a playoff contender give him an edge if it remains this tight of a race?

Secondly, if that's the case, should that be a factor?

Whether the team makes the playoffs doesn't seem to matter one bit in Cy Young voting and rightfully so.

It probably won't matter again this year because Johan Santana is, IMO, by far the best pitcher in the league and should win it easily. He got robbed badly last year, don't think it will happen again.
