Tales of Vesperia
and a pet peeve of mine… people calling games like Quake "shooters" those are properly refered to as FPS as in First Person Shooter.
For real shooters on the 360:
Raiden Fighter Aces
Shikigami no Shiro III
Raiden IV (coming October)
Otomedius Gorgeous (coming october)
Death Smiles (coming spring 2009)
DoDonPachi Daioujou Black Lable (TBA)
And regarding FPS,
in overall game play and challenge…
COD 4 >>> Halo 3
Oblivion is the best RPG on the 360, if you're not overwhelmed by the size of it. Very detailed. It can hold your attention 100s of hours if you get into it. I played 21 hours before I started the main quest. Very addictive.
Cosign, and maybe throw in a bball game. Another game worth looking at (judging by the demo) would be to get Force Unleashed when it drops.
Naw, I would stay away from Force Unleashed. It already got trashed in GamePro magazine, and really, it can only go down from there.
A few good ones that haven't been mentioned, but you should be able to pick up cheap:
The Orange Box - If you haven't already played Half life 2, you should get this. Half life 2 is an A+ classic. And as a bonus there are four more games on the disc, including the incredibly well received though slightly overrated Portal.
Fight Night 3 - A great boxing game that should be dirt cheap now.
Skate - Revolutionary skateboarding game. The controls are kind of wacky, but in a fun way.
Mass Effect - A Third Person Shooter Role Playing Game. TPSRPG. It's kind of like a next generation "Knights Of The Old Republic" with guns instead of lightsabers. Very story driven.
Burnout Revenge - The best arcade racing series of the past 5 years. Burnout Revenge is better than Burnout Paradise City.
I recommend you sell your 360 and get a PS3.
I am never going back to 360.
PS3 is much nicer looking, much quieter, a lot more durable, blue-ray technology is awesome (just seen Street Kings on it). The only downfall is it doesn't have a greater game library, but it will eventually. The only games I have in stock is GTA 4 and MGS: Guns of Patriots. I really don't need any other game for the next year.
I had to exchange my 360 3 times because of the RCOD.
But hope you enjoy your new console and hopefully it doesn't break on you.
As far as games, I'd recommend Call of Duty 4, GTA 4 and Oblivion for starters.
Sorry guys, not a big gamer buff when it comes to genre's and all that jazz. You take the role of someone else in that video game and play out his story, not much more to it. What is it considered, Action?
Come on now Sonic R. First Person Shooter, that means it's a type of shooter.
And no love for Ikaruga?
Ikaruga is good but the XBLA version is kind of broken in some aspects when compared to the Dreamcast version as well as the Gamecube release…
Its still solid though and will satisfy for those who haven't access to the other ports and aren't anel about every fine detail and feature. Cant beat the price either… considering the other verisons have skyrocketed in price
anyways I originally listed retail releases.
For XBLA titles, get:
Bionic Commando Rearmed
Triggerheart Exelica (kind of broken when compared to the Dreamcast version)
Pac-Man Championship Edition
TMNT: Arcade game 1989
Every Extend Extra Extream
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (if not already played it)
There's others but those are some really good ones especially Pac-man CE and Castle Crashers.
