did you see Karstens and Rasten over the weekend? two unknown pitchers started for hte Yanks vs the Twins, and performed well (except that Johan Santana game, which is expected) in 6+ innings with minimal hits and ERs.

and the Yankees just added Rasten to the bullpen as an extra arm since Mussina is back.

Yanks don't have pitching? pleaseee..

BRian Cashman has a secret in AAA rigth now.... a prospect who is deemed untouchable...

Yank will face the White Sox/Twins first and dismantle them. AJ and company has seemed rather uninterested this year. Torii Hunter said over the weekened the Yanks have a $200 million payroll and they play for minimum wage.

Yanks willl show the young and upstart Tigers that they should value patience over slugging.

then the Yanks will happily abuse the Mets.

Don't get too excited about these recent Yankee callups. Lots of pitchers have a good first game or 2 simply because no one has seen them. Neither Karstens or Rasner is or has been projected as anything too good. Wait for Phillip Hughes next year before proclaiming that the Yanks have young pitching...

The Ch-Sox are the only team that can beat the Yankees in a series and they might not even make the playoffs...

NY's lineup is just ridiculous and that's without Matsui and Sheffield. I don't care who the starter is, they'll wear him down and it's game over

Qwyjibo is right. Pitchers get lucky their first start against teams, because teams dont have much of a scouting report on them.

however, phillip hughes is a real good prospect. but guys like the two guys you mentioned, theyre okay, but theyre not studly. i dont think theyll continue to succeed for a long time.
