Default OT: Plasma Or LCD TV?

I'm buying one of the two, I need to know which one is actually better. Does anyone have a suggestion?

depends on the size, general consensus is plasma for larger tv's, lcd for smaller. i personally prefer lcd. plasma have been known to suffer from burn in (although that has been claimed to have been fixed, i dont wanna take chances)

btw, if your not in a dire need for it, i would wait till next year, prices are predicted to drop 30% within a year. buy after christmas, it will be much cheaper.

LCD. One a plasma screen goes, there's not fixing it. LCD is cheaper to maintain and in my opinion, clearer.

That's pretty much been the trend for years, prices will drop 30% each year. You can pretty much get the next size up with the same money if you wait a year.

Okay, so I'm probably going with an LCD, I was leaning that way. BTW this is for a 40 incher.

40 inch go lcd no question. plasma just has better blacks, and was a little cheaper in the 50 inch + range, but lcd has narrowed the gap on both.

Plasma technology has gotten way better withtin the last year. So much so that they garauntee a 10 year warranty on it. Doesn't seem long right? Think about ten years down the road, will you have the same TV? I'll take that ten year chance. Also depends on what you're using it for. What is clarity anyways? I like size. Give me a 60 inch projection for half the price
*does Tim Taylor Grunt*
Save the money and wait a few years down the road when tube in tube is released. I hear clarity and longevity is amazing on this puppy.

sorry, but I gotta go with the ol' 6 inch black and white TV, preferably the ones where the antannae is broken off and you have to manually hold it. Doing that with one hand, plus clicking to the other 3 channels with the other hands requires great coordination

Have you looked into DLP at all? I think I heard somewhere that the picture is better, and they are a lot cheaper.
