Kyle Korver to Try for Guinness Book of World Records in Philly
Quote:
YOU KNOW THAT playground in between Pat's and Geno's? The one with the basketball courts, chain-link fences and that dude who politely asks to clean your windshield with newspaper?
This Friday, that playground - the Capitolo at 9th and Federal - will host history as former Sixer Kyle Korver and Kixx assistant coach Adam Bruckner will be on hand in an attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the longest game of kickball ever played.
The event, sponsored by Korver's foundation, also is out to raise $10,000 for the Helping Hand Rescue mission in North Philly.
Each team will have a roster of 20 players; Guinness rules state that a minimum of four males and four females must remain on field at all times in a game that is supposed to last 25 hours.
The contest is slated to kick off - literally - at 7 p.m. Friday and end around 8 p.m. Saturday. So, weekenders and night owls, here's a chance to check out Guinness history after you're done scarfing down that "whiz wit" and cup of cheese fries.
