Everybody Wants Some: 8.6/10

Caught a screening of this earlier tonight followed by a Q&A with Linklater and some of the cast. It's being marketed as the spiritual successor of Dazed and Confused and that's a spot on assessment. Linklater himself said he envisioned it as the story of the kid from Dazed (remember he was also a baseball pitcher) 4 years later during his first few days of College. If you enjoyed dazed, you'll love this one. 2 hrs long but didn't feel like it. Very fun and kinetic with a great soundtrack.

Linklater is the master of the slice of life cinema style. He just knows how to make mundane everyday stories seem epic. If you were to boil the story down you'd say it's just a bunch of baseball jocks killing time before classes start at a college by partying. But it ends up being more than that.

I thought Pawn Sacrifice was quite good.

Tobey McGuire plays Bobby Fischer, the guy who took on the powerful russians at chess and won.

7/10

the invitation

7.25/10. worth watching, could have been better though. the end fell a bit flat and went down on a generic road in a way

I've been waiting for this to come out since I first saw the trailer.

Pain n Gain - 9/10.
Fun movie, great story.
I like that none of the sides were shown as good, so you could choose what you believed in for yourself without a stupid moral message showed down your throat.
I'm starting to appreciate Bay, he makes movies by men, for men, with women.

The Boss - 4/10

I remember seeing video footage of the Michelle Darnell character when McCarthy was in the Groundlings years ago and she was pretty funny. In this...she was not really all that funny. Kristen Bell was quite unmemorable. Peter Dinklage does okay with his brief time on screen. The kids were honestly funnier than the adults. The movie gets a 4 because of one well done, quite charming, ultimately ironic boob-related interchange between Bell and McCarthy that got me laughing.

Probably. There weren't really any other boob-centric jokes in there.

This movie had a lot of pleasing things, dark humour, tits, ass, sex jokes, Dwayne Johnson out of his comfort zone and still rockin it, wahlberg with a good performance, making the most unlikable guy actually likable. Ed Harris was awesome too.
And I actually enjoyed the direction of this movie too, the scene where SPOILER second businessman dies has some amazing camera work.

I remember back when I was 17 I had horrible taste in movies. You guys used to shit on me the way sexsymbol is getting shit on rn. It's gotta be age and maturity honestly because I revisited all the movies and had different ratings 6 years ago

Rocky 9/10 haven't seen this movie in over ten years. Maybe not even the entire movie before. Anyway classic film. More enjoyable seeing the poor fight to fight living version. It's has a rough 70s film charm to it. Characters were more interesting.
