Sunshine - underrated movie. Really enjoyed it 8/10
I thought it was very good. One of the best modern sci-fi movies I've seen. Although the ending kind of ruined it, could have been a masterpiece if that didn't fail. Oh well, it was still great.
The visuals were amazing. And the graphics on their world was amazing. The 3-D experience is def. a must see. The overall story was pretty cliche, but I still liked it because it was a very creative idea
If you like poorly acted 80's slasher flicks like I do then this movie is for you. Some good scenes, good ending and overall fairly unique for the genre.
Just watched "The Kite Runner"! Had to watch it since its one of my fav books and the movie was awesome too, like they followed the story/book very well, like they exactly followed it which made it good. Idk if yall have read the book or heard of it but its by Khaled Hosseini. Anyone read it before? Or heard of it? Amazing book/story! He has 2 books, The Kite Runner and another one called "A Thousand Splendid Suns" which was also really good! But for this movie I'll give it 10/10!
Saw Avatar again for the second time with a friend last Monday.
First time - I think I gave it a 9. The 3D glasses really pulled me in. I was impressed.
Second time - After seeing the 3D effects, I'm not really impressed by Cameron's story or uniqueness of directing. Seemed like an average movie to me. Something was missing compared to his older movies. Not even close to being an overall movie like Terminator 1, 2, Aliens, and The Abyss to me in terms of sci-fi. Hopefully his next movie concentrates more on the drama aspect and not the effects. I give it a 7.5 now.
Just curious, what would you rate it if you took out all of the visuals? I mean just the acting/story/dialogue/message.
I'm wondering because if it's not close to some of his other stuff, you've got to be giving points for looks. 7.5 is pretty high for an 'average movie'.
(For the record I haven't seen it, and won't.)
I'm saying it was a decent movie but not as good as his previous movies. It wasn't a bad movie, I just expected more out of James Cameron's return. It didn't give me goose bumps like Terminator 2 or the Abyss.

I think 80% of the movie is based on the effects. The story was copied from Dances with Wolves basically and the acting was mainly animated for the majority of the time. There definitely were no oscar nominations for acting if that's what you're asking. The best acting was probably from the kernel with the scars on his face. He did a great job. The movie was more about the effects though.
The most unique and impressive thing that James Cameron did was convince the audience into the alien world vs the real world with 3D. That was impressive. He should get an oscar for special effects for sure.
If you do see it, I would see it in a theater in 3D to get the full effect, but I don't recommend seeing it twice.
