"25th Hour."

I started watching it before I realized it was a Spike Lee movie, but fortunately I'd committed too much time to watching it to stop. Not amazing, but pretty damn good. Ed Norton really elevates the level of whatever film he's in. He always seems to give a good performance.

It definitely has the usual lack of subtlety that is omnipresent in Lee's films, but pretty good overall. 73%.

Candyman 6.5/10 I guess... Probably closer to a 6. Decent time filler.

Body of Lies 8/10

Great acting and direction, of course!
Story was nothing spectacular though.
Great supporting cast as well, kudos to Mark Strong!

OK, then what is that scene? She is being raped for heroin money in front a bunch of rich stock brokers. It is absolutely disgusting.

Don't ever insult Kubrick by comparing Darren Aronofsky to him, please. Darren Aronofsky has Requiem. That's it. Pi sucks. The Fountain had a couple hit moments but was a miss as a whole. Meanwhile Kubrick has 2001, The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, Dr. Strangelove, Barry Lyndon (so underrated) and others.

"Dog Day Afternoon."

I know I'm going to be in the clear minority here, but it was way too long, drawn out, and struggled to make me care. It wasn't bad, but I really didn't think a whole lot of it. 64%.

"Rear Window."

A very slow, plodding start, and the fact that the set doesn't change for the entire film could grate on your nerves if you weren't careful, but overall a fairly slick little film save for the ending, which wraps itself up a little too quickly and neatly, if you ask me. Interesting concept, though, and well pulled off. 77%.

"Chinatown."

Now this is a terrific film noir masterpiece. A young Jack Nicholson is fantastic as J.J. Gittes, and the entire mystique around his past in Chinatown, and, of course the iconic "Forget it, Jake, it's Chinatown" really adds to the allure. Some really nice twists and turns in the plot. I would've preferred it if it would've been filmed in black and white, but other than that I have no real complaints. 86%.
