Yea, I think I'm going to have a Clint Eastwood/Western day. I watched The Pale Rider about a week ago and though it was an excellent movie, which has got me interested in watching Westerns.

definitely not much much better. i actually dig 'for a few dollars more' over 'good, bad, ugly', although the gap between them isn't so much to be worth arguing over. honestly if you're planning to check out the full trilogy, i'd just go chronological. the first would definitely seem a little underwhelming if you saw it after either of the other two - but if you see 'fistful' before the others, you'll still love it and then be able to move onto bigger and better things.

although even though i've only seen it twice now (for the first time within the last few months), i'd almost definitely nominate 'once upon a time in the west' as the best leone spaghetti. still haven't seen 'ouatia'.

but honestly, you can't go wrong with any of them.

Hot tub time machine = 9/10...****ing hilarious, took a little while to get funny though

the losers = 7/10 i went in expecting a lot of laughs but it was more of an action movie, i think seeing hot tub time machine the night before made it seem less funny

Crazy Heart

The story was unpredictable and incredible. Jeff Bridges did an outstanding job as he always does and really sold it for me. The music was great too. I give it a 95/100. One of my favs in recent history. I actually liked it more than Inglorious Bastards which is saying something.

I'd rank FaFDM over tGtBtU, but I'd rank High Plains Drifter high than both.

"with a hint of supernatural" according to the wiki - i'll have to check it out. the title is pretty f*cking cool at the very least.

i did rewatch 'eternal sunshine' a few nights ago for the umpteenth time. i really do think that love triangle romance sideplot could have gone awry in a hurry, but they did a fantastic job not forcing too much of it into the screen time. it really was just enough to make the poignant observation about how much damage meddling with memories can do.

this is also kate winslet's best movie - that i've seen. although no, i still "have not seen the reader". which apparently is just a softcore porno for the first third? so i hear anyway.

High Plains Drifter is certainly a good Western, but pales in comparison to TGTBATU.

I've been recommending this film so incredibly hard since I've seen it this past summer. RBA loved it and gave it a fantastic review, and I believe he said it was Clint's best.

I've seen it 5-6 times since last summer and each time I learn something new. If you're anything like me, it will require an immediate re-watch. And many more after that.

Top 10 for me all time, easily. I'd like to get your thoughts on it if you ever get around to watching it.

Well I would just have to vehemently disagree here. I think It's Clint's best western by far. It might even overtake Unforgiven for me in a couple of years with enough viewings.

I finally got around to watching this a few days ago and it didn't disappoint me like Titanic did. Yeah, you can tell where the movie is going, but it was still a fun ride. It might be much better to see it in IMAX, but it was still enjoyable watching on a TV, and it didn't seem to drag like some movies that are 2+ hours (like Titanic...). A-

The Sting

It took me a bit to get into the movie, but once I did it seemed to flow much better than at the beginning. Again, I could tell where the movie was headed, but I still enjoyed the ride. This movie does get a lot of love, but I feel that it is a bit overrated. I've seen some label it as 'perfect' which I don't get at all because it has its share of flaws. A-

For me, it can't touch the epicness, all the shots (the panoramic and close-ups), the cinematography, the acting, the characters, the classic lines, the scenes (like the Mexican standoff), the awesome score, etc... of TGTBATU. The only Western I put ahead of it is OUATITW.

Once upon a Time in America is a great movie. One of my favorite gang movies. It's about 4 hours though, so make sure you have the time to watch it.

agora- 7/10
very interesting, original idea. but it isnt good enough to carry the weight of its subject matter. still i admire the effort.

clash of the titans- 5/10
mindless nonsense with just about enough going on to enjoy+ fiennes and neison hamming it up to the max.

ghost writer- 7.10
nicely done, dark, but a terrible ending, im sure polanski must have been imprisoned before he got a chance to finish it because its awful and really lets done a very tidy little thriller.

how to train your dragon- 9.5/10
every bit as good as billed and pretty much as good as most recent pixars(thats really saying something) id have to give it the top spot for me so far this year.

the dissaperarence of alice creed-6/10
gemma arterton writhering around in bondage for an entire movie is a great premise but there its all a little unsavory to titilate. as a film it is actually excellent for the first 30 minutes and then goes downhill fast, too many twists- some that work, some that do not but solid acting all round.

iron man 2- 6/10
adequate but formulaic and flat.
