Really, really good animated Batman movie. Nightwing is in it, Joker, Ra's al Ghul, and "Red Hood", who you at first think is a villain but turns out to be more of an anti-hero. Lots of good action, as well as a pretty personal story for Bats. The animation is OK, it's pretty much what you'd expect. Many of the fight scenes are well choreographed, which is not something I'm using to seeing in many animated movies. There's also some pretty heavy morality here.

tried to watch Youth in revolt the other day. man, that movie was not very funny. I like that kid alright (hes best in arrested development) and none of the acting was terrible, but the laughs just werent there. Seemed like a lame date movie for tweenagers, which is not what I expected. Didnt finish it, so I wont actually give it a rating, but not very good.
some of the scenes just didn't work, some were too short and others were to long. there was one where you see mandela dancing with a woman and telling her she was beautiful and it changes to a 4 second scene where we see the head security guy sleeping on a bed. what was the point of either of them?
morgan freeman did a good job as usual but matt damon was a little stiff, he's also 10 years old than francois was at the time too (it wasn't that obvious, but as a rugby fan i could tell).
I think that the point of the scene was to show that Mandela was exerting himself so much that his bodyguard, 40 years his junior, was asleep. The next scene, which shows Mandela collapsed outside his house seems to support this interpretation.
youre gonna have to agree to disagree then. i had to force myself to get through it...not because of the grim subject matter or the general lack of action, but his writing style. awful sentence structure.....his word choices.....some of his descriptions made me cringe. and very heavy-handed.
but to get this back on the movie side of things. the editing was atrocious, the narration was unnecessary unless they had planned on keeping the narrative style of the book (which they didn't), kid was a terrible actor (i can forgive that, he's a kid), and they somehow managed to make the whole religious angel/god theme even more hamfisted.
and on top of that, viggo was far from his best.

Unfortunately this movie was partially spoiled for me by someone when we were discussing another movie, when he said something to the effect of "Oh, kinda like in Angel Heart", but I still enjoyed it.
"Harry Angel has a new case, to find a man called Johnny Favourite. Except things aren't quite that simple, and Johnny doesn't want to be found. Let's just say that, amongst the period detail and beautiful scenery, it all gets really, really nasty."
This is dark, complex, and very mysterious. It's also pretty spooky. Great acting(as expected), and great atmosphere. I'm definitely going to have to watch it again.
Angel Heart is a classic noir piece. Mickey Rourke at his finest and Deniro delivers as a very devilish Louis Cifer. Lisa Bonet also is nude in this which alone is worth a watch as far as I'm concerned. Movies like this just aren't made anymore and when they try it fails.
