Its been a long time since I've seen this, so I don't remember details (at least not enough for a review). But I do remember being entertained for an hour.

I might have to look into that, has the same chick as in May. Thanks.

At first the acting seems really bad but as the movie goes on it gets really good. It's a smart movie and the ending is very good.

It was as if Morgan Freeman was picking up the slack for Brad Pitt's bad acting the same as his character was picking up the slack for Pitt's character's inexperience/screwups. Two things happening at the same time.

Date Night-5/10. Mildly amusing.

What a shame, I never pictured HBO to pull the plug on a project such as grandiose as this due to lack of budget.

Plus Season 2 had so much potential but the director wanted to finish it before the series ended (the story) so they rushed through history at a ridiculous pace. You'd have a scene before a battle, and the next scene a year later and the war was done.

Don't feel bad, I saw it for the first time last month ;)

Steve Martin is easily one of the G.O.A.T.'s of comedic acting.

Predators: 4/10
- Pointless film for the most part. Tries to replicate (sometimes too obviously) the original Predator but doesn't have the same tension, atmosphere or fun characters of the first one. Other than Adrien Brody (who isn't quite believable here) the cast is a dud. It did have some cool visuals though and the action was better than the recently crappy "Aliens vs Predator" series.

The Trotsky: 9/10

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1295072/

- This movie surprised the hell out of me. It takes a completely absurd concept/character and makes it not only work but also interesting and funny. This is mostly due to Jay Baruchel (one of the most underrated actors around) who completely sells the character with his performances. Then you have some very likable secondary characters such as his family, his classmates and a couple lawyers into whose lives he basically forces his way into. The "Social Justice" themed school dance and the accompanying costumes were hilarious. There is a lot of historical humour here. I also liked some of the thought provoking themes touched upon even though they were handled in an obviously over the top manner. It has a tone very similar to that of Rushmore with maybe a little bit of Ferris Bueller in there too. It's a small Canadian film but it should be out there on the major torrent sites so look for it. One of my favourite movies in this, so far, weak year.

Animal Kingdom

Crime|Drama

Tells the story of seventeen year-old J (Josh) as he navigates his survival amongst an explosive criminal family and the detective who thinks he can save him.

Trailer

Excellent, gritty crime-drama out of Australia. Solid acting, fantastic cinematography, and an awesome atmospheric, moody score. Pretty smart plot too, that doesn't try to hit you over the head with the main points. It resonated with me on an emotional level, though I can't really say in what way, just that it stirred something up.

My only complaint -- and this isn't really a fault of the movie per se -- is those God damn thick ass Australian accents. I seriously couldn't make out what the **** they were saying at times. It didn't happen too often but it was definitely frustrating when it did. I definitely plan to watch it again when the DVD hits, with subtitles on in case I missed anything more than just little things this time.

8.5/10
