yeah, i dug 'em. Russell (the character) plays a few truly awesome solos. the music didn't strike me as anything brilliant, but it was good. maybe it didn't peak out in my head because it was contrasted with Tiny Dancer, Tangerine, The Song Remains the Same, America, etc.

yeah, all impromptu out of nowhere would be sweet. i've done it with Bohemian Rhapsody, but somehow that just didn't have the warm feel good quality of Tiny Dancer. it's always amazing to me when a director manages to make a cliche scene absolutely fantastic, and that's exactly what Crowe did. from soaking wet down in the dumps recovering from an acid trip to an Elton John singalong on a tour bus?

you gotta be kidding me

and yet, he pulled it off.

The Sunset Limited

A nihilistic, atheist professor at the end of his rope finds himself in the apartment of an ex-con after he attempts to kill himself via the subway. Samuel L. Jackson's character is a poor, born again Christian, who feels it's his mission to help get this man back on the right path.

Pretty interesting flick. The entire movie takes places in Jackson's apartment, with them sitting at the kitchen table hashing things out most of the time. I related to Jones' character pretty well, as I've gone back and forth with many of the exact same lines of thought. Acting was great on the part of both guys, but very subtle and nuanced. Don't expect a whole lot of tearful epiphany type stuff.

It did start to wear on me a bit towards the end, but it isn't too long, and I appreciated the direction they went with it.

7.7/10

It never aired in anything but SD I don't think, and no Blurays have been released yet. Some people have even said that it was only ever shot in SD. So no luck there I suppose.

well that's incredibly disappointing

hopefully a major blu ray overhaul is in the works

i might have to put the long awaited first viewing on indefinite hold because i REALLY want to give this show the best chance possible and watching it in sd just doesn't satisfy me

just did a quick google search and it was filmed in 35mm, which apparently is great for a bd conversion if thats what they want to do

people are comparing the twilight zone blu rays which is the same aspect ratio and they came out incredible and that theyre should be no problem at all if a bd project was to be released

Cameron Crowe always puts some great music in his movies. I remember watching Elizabethtown and going from somewhat liking it to it being touching and intimate because of the music. He must be a big Elton fan because he put My Fathers Gun in that movie and it was absolutely perfect.

It's because of his connections. He's the only reason there's a few Zep songs on the soundtrack. Page usually tells everyone to go f*ck themselves, even if they can afford the licensing, which is extremely rare.

I hope that's sarcasm, because if you expect amazing, you'll be let down. It is very good though.

I'm a little biased because I think Bridges is so awesome. I was really impressed with Steinfeld and Bridges, plus the script was mostly solid, and it looks great. The low quality screener may affect your opinion.
