no country for old men HAS to be at least post vietnam war(and not because that is alluded to). i feel like it has to be around 1980's, thats very important for the philosophical stuff....

You can tell it's 1980 in the scene when Javier Bardem flips the coin.

I think he mentions the quarter is 22 years old and the date on it is 1958.

Yeah, that's the only real way to date it.

Heimat: A Chronicle of Germany

Amazingly good made for TV mini-series which chronicles the lives of a small German village during the inter-war years leading up to, and then during WWII.

There is also a Heimat II and III which are just as good, and chronicle the years following WWII, ending finally in modern times.

All are avail. on the usual torrent sites if any are interested, but be warned, it is LONG. Each part (I, II, III) consists of several episodes that are each the length of a full movie. I could only find them in actual DVD format, and all three combined take up like 80GB or so.

If you are interested in history I would highly recommend obtaining and watching this series. PM me if interested and need help finding it.

Alpha Dog

based on a true story, really interesting film saw it on AMC last night, really liked it, kind of sad story in a way but still crime/drama/thriller type I give it a solid 8/10 definitely worth a viewing.

They actually released several cuts of the movie, but go for the mini-series length, it's worth it.
yeah...I just downloaded it last night. I plan on watching it later tomorrow.

but I just saw

Martha Marcy May Marlene

stars the Olsen Twins little sister. About a girl who was part of an occult but is now trying to adapt to normal life living with her sister and her husband.
Pretty ok, film. Elisabeth Olsen's acting was really believable (big titys btw). It kind of jumps between times. Kind of typical occult movie, but not very cliche like the others.
7/10 for me. But expect alot indie geeks to hype this thing off like it's on Fight Club level of flick, within the next 2 months. Watch.

Tower Heist 6.5/10

Very watchable. Funny in moments. Not a great ending.
