Gonna watch it soon.
Arronofski is in my Top 5 directors
if you havent seen the fountain but are an aronofsky fan you will be surprised. it is by far his most unique and personal film but alot of people that like his rougher recent films dont like the fountain.
personally i feel its still his best film.

Including Pi, you mean? Because that's my favourite of his.
Ifeel like more and more movies are doing that to me lately. Is it cause I'm getting older? Seriously WTF. Sometimes I have to sit through the credits so I don't come out looking all welled up.
Was almost like Ferrell wanted to prove he could act in Spanish, so none of the humor came from him. Essentially the humor was all towards the idea of Mexican movies being cheap with bad acting, so it was more like the modern Grindhouse spoof movies where they would have bad editing, cheap models for set pieces, or puppets for animals. Even then, that stuff was too spread out and random, so it felt out of place and weird rather than funny, so the movie would have been better if it was more serious straight through.
Myth - you seem to have seen a shitload of movies (which is cool, nothing wrong with that). Just to shoot the shit, what was your opinion of Pan's Labyrinth? You probably peeped it back when it originally came out (around 2006). My behind the curve ass only recently checked it out, and was blown away. A true hidden diamond in the rough (for me anyway, I realize it is popular and was critically acclaimed by those who truly know the film industry).
Anyone else want to add their $0.02 on Pan's Labyrinth? I still can't get that lullaby out of my head. That shit is so damn sick.
I'll leave it at this- You know you're watching a crap movie when the best actor in the thing is a fuc*ing CGI gorilla
Agreed. Jack Black was grossly terrible in this one. I can appreciate some of his more "hit" rather than "miss" roles - such as School of Rock and Envy, but films like King Kong just openly demonstrate just how limited Black is in pulling off a variety of various roles.
Think Like A Man - 6/10 Goodfellas - 8.6/10 Pulp Fiction - 9.3/10
(Can't believe it took me this long to watch it. Great movie) Rachel Getting Married - 8.2/10

I had a different reaction than most people. I absolutely loved the real life style scenes with the dictator dude (like the rabbit scene), but didn't care much for the fantasy scenes with the child. Overall a good movie though. I'd put it at probably 8/10
Also if you liked Pan's Labrynth, 2 movies that have similar styles that come to mind are The Devil's Backbone (Del Toro), and The Orphanage (Del Toro Produced, but not directed). Even the more recent Don't Be Afraid of the Dark had some Del Toro style elements to it that were nice and creepy (Del Toro helped write and produce)
So generic. I was expecting at least some cool visuals with some fun corny lines, but the action was bland and the one-liners were also bland. Not even one moment of "OK, now that was cool."

Both are in my library and I could not agree more.
The fantasy scenes are what lowered it to 8 for me. The realistic scenes were like a 9/10 for me while the fantasy scenes just kind of bored me (7/10), averaging out to about an 8/10.

As you get older, you begin to feel your own mortality, and become more empathetic to people and what they're going through, even characters in movies. It's funny, but as you get older, characters you thought were "cool" as a youngster in movies begin to look like irresponsible idiots to you, as you get older.
