Peter Jackson does something I've never seen before: he actually puts more in the film than was in the book. And it works. Visually stunning (I saw it in 28fps 3-D) and compelling, especially the scene with Gollum. The only negative for me is the nearly 3 hour run time. If he could've shaved about 20 minutes it would've been 9/10.
I really think that acting was great, especially Tom Hardy and Guy Pearce (really made me hate his character). Plot was somewhat lacking and I expected more screen time for Gary Oldmans character who had a really badass showing at the beginning. Don't like Shia, but I think he did an ok job here.
All in all, a movie well worth watching.
The hobbit : 8/10
Never seen any Lotr but the flick was pretty interesting. Surprised me.
Django unchained: I ha it in my mind to give this 9/10 at one part late in the movie but it dragged on a while and there was a period when I'd have been happier to be able to leave than to see it end in a good way. However still very good movie 8.5/10
I think I liked it even more the 2nd time, but I can't remember my original score for it.
Wanna know what's crazy. I rented this movie right after my final on a Friday morning. I was so pumped after watching it. So much action. Felt like going to a gun range and shooting shit up. Anyways I turn off my DVD player, and turn on my cable. All over the news is the Connecticut shooting. Now anytime I ever see this movie, that'll be the first thing that pops into my head.
