Breaking Bad is ridiculously overrated. Maybe my viewing experience is skewed by expectations from friends. I just have too many problems with it.

I just watched all the seasons because I invested so much time in it. There is nothing there that actually makes me want to watch, though.

I went in expecting Sopranos, the Wire, Deadwood caliber quality. And it simply isn't there for ME.

Breaking Bad is utterly ridiculous. No suspension of disbelief. No likable or even charismatic characters. Just super bland, and at times down right melodramatic. Character inconsistencies. Cheap angles for drama.

I just don't buy it.

FUBAR: Balls to the wall

A shockingly well done canadian indie comedy. Both very funny and heartfelt without falling into the mushy tacked on love story in so many hollywood comedies. I netflixed it, expecting to turn it off after a couple of minutes and really enjoyed the whole movie. Its not nearly as dumb as the title and cover make it seem. Plus, its the only movie I know of set in the tar sands of alberta. Makes you think about our energy production without being overtly political. 8/10

Awesome/10

Quentin Tarantino movies are special and this one is no exception to that statement. He just makes awesome movies on a consistent basis. If you have not seen this movie and you like Tarantino then this is a must see.

I also caught most of Pulp Fiction for like the 100th time because it was on TV today.

Probably my favorite director/writer. I can't wait for Django Unchained to come out.

Just re-watched Amazing Spider-Man.

Blows the Sam Raimi trilogy out of the water. Exposes Raimi for the cheese, corn ball fest of a director that he is in reality. Totally cliche.

There are elements of the film I don't like, and would change. But overall it's better than the previous three films, easily. Garfield nails the character. Overall a pretty good Spider-Man flick.

Now I'm amped to see Jamie Fox as the villain in the sequel.

4/5

Right up there with the best comic book films not made by Christopher Nolan.

Should have listened to Sunsfan up there.

Killing Them Softly was at best disappointing, and at worst it was bad.

The review he posted is pretty on the spot. The overwhelming presence of the economic info was like being hit over the head, but that honestly didn't even bother me that much. I actually thought it was a nice idea that just was overkilled.

My main issues were one with the lengthy dialogue. Look ... I love rich dialogue. I'm a fan of things that written to the point of being beyond realistic linguistically. Christ I watched The Newsroom this year and got some pleasure out of it. I love Tarrantino's asides. This is stuff I should like, but it just didn't work for me at all. I'm by no means easily offended, but this was crass in ways that just didn't serve any purpose.

The second thing were some of the unresolved issues it left. Well, that's not entirely accurate. It's mostly that they handled Gandolfini's character's payoff off screen, which was just crazy to me. They build repeatedly with these long silolques the guy gives, the tell you the plan, then they apparently execute the plan, but only talk about it after the fact (that sounds kind of spoiler-y, but it's really not).

Knowing this guy did Jessie James, I was expecting some nice visual work. It had it's moments. There's a scene with Ray Liotta that's really creative, but didn't work 100% for me. I also liked the work with the two guys doped up. But overall it looked too gloomy and closed in for what I had hoped for.

Overally just not a terribly enjoyable flick. It's genre will appeal to a broad base, and I'm sure some people will like it. It's probably worth watching, but not until cable. And even then it's a one watch kind thing.

I'd give it a mid 60s.

Yea I feel the same way, it's extremely unrealistic especially with the number of henchmen. In Mexico the boss had like what 2 guards and 8 partners? No 10+ guys on the roof with rifles. It's way too easy to kill guys who make like half a billion a year.
