It certainly was in my opinion. For the most part, the American one is mostly shot scene by scene the same, but there are certain subtleties that are removed and made more blatant, which to me felt like the director talking down to the American audience as if we couldn't understand. Also, if you are going to remake a movie in English, make it take place in a country where English is the primary language rather than having it take place in the same place and pretend that English is their primary language. I can't remember the endings of both, but I remember there were completely different scenes in the Swedish one after the climax that I thought were better.

Reminds me of the remake of The Omen or Psycho. They are shot scene by scene the same, but they are still missing what made the original ones classics.

rosemary's baby 5/10

i was just looking for a scary movie, and i heard this had something to do with a cult. i loved eyes wide shut, and was hoping for something of the same, but was very disappointed. maybe if i hadnt been expecting a truly scary movie, i would have enjoyed it. it felt like it was building towards some big scary climax, but the ending was pretty underwhelming.

i cant remember the last time i was so disappointed with a movie. i heard this was a classic horror movie, but it wasnt scary at all.

That's really unfortunate. I was mildly excited for this based on the writer, director, cast, etc.

Then it got released, and I checked some reviews before intending to make it my Saturday afternoon matinee leaving work, and it was not looking good. Like a 30 on the tomatoe meter. I don't usually read reviews, but I do check the Tomatoe Meter, and usually if something is below 70, unless the content is just right up my alley, I just won't waste my time on. 30 is just not gonna make the cut.
The last Rotten movie I saw was Killing Them Softly, and I wound up not liking that very much.

WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN- 6.5/10

Technically, this was a very well made and acted film. Tilda Swinton was great as a traumatized, scapegoat figure. John C. Reilly showed pretty good dramatic chops as the oblivious, dumbass dad of an oddball, lunatic son.

I guess I rank this lower becuase it was just too bleak and disturbing to be enjoyable. I know the purpose of the narrative kinda but it was overly dark with very little explanation/ insight as to why.

This is an indy film that it pretty evocative and well-done but it just brought very little entertainment value to the viewer.

For a psychological piece, not enough was donw to make me buy the son's personality.

Man, that movie was very disturbing.

It also produced one of the most disturbing gifs ever:
