If you aren't into the paranormal stuff, here are some popular ones that you might like a bit better.

Let the Right One In, Cabin in the Woods, The Strangers.

And some not as common ones that you might like.

Amusement, Frozen, Tucker and Dale v. Evil (mock horror)

She's never played this role before

I thought the first Hostel was an excellent movie. Both of the sequels aren't really fit to be used as coasters.

12 Years a Slave 9/10

12 Years a Slave did a great job of showcasing many angles of slavery, particularly the kidnapping aspect which i don't think many realized occurred. What about the cast though, just about everyone was in this movie. It was excellent. The ending where he's apologizing...idk, it did something to me. I guess i didn't expect him to feel that way, but it made me respect the character a lot as a symbol of what a man is.

The Butler 9/10

Also an excellent film from start to finish. Very interesting way to showcase the progress time from this perspective of a butler and his family.

These are the two best movies of the year. No competition. Gravity was visually fun, but the main character was an idiot and overall the story wasn't anything new or even something executed in a way to separate it self from being your basic theme of overcoming the odds to find the light inside you and fight for life...yeah.

I see butler has a worst rating and bad reviews is it really that much different from 12 years a slave?

Completely different. For one the tone is much lighter and its more of a story about time and one man's perspective (though you see different sides). 12 Years is Roots Jr meets Color Purple.

watched Prisoners on a really long flight

commanding performances from a really talented cast elevated the film to heights that it would otherwise not achieved. Never seen Gyllenhal so much intensity, almost like the street smart gritty counterpart to his character in zodiac. thoroughly enjoyable, even though the final act/revelation is hokey but it's probably more authentic not to have a drawn out exposition for inherently irrational and psychopathic behavior.

also would recommend the conjuring, which is similar but more eventful than paranormal activities etc

I'll be watching American Psycho in a minute.

I'll edit this post with my rating/review of it soon after.

And yes, everything I watch is on Amazon Prime...so if u have that too, let me know and we can discuss their movie selection.

Edit: I'll give it a 7/10...it held my attention but it wasn't that good...imdb users (its imdb score is 7.2...which is a pretty good imdb score) liked it more than i did.
