Funny, I had the opposite experience. I liked it when I really wasn't expecting much. I don't know if it is overexposure or what with Bale, but I've tended to avoid his movies since the whole Batman thing and that awful Terminator prequel.

But, I was really lost in his performance with this movie. That's my biggest compliment to a well known, overexposed actor. Do I forget I'm watching Bale over the course of the movie and start to actually believe him as his character?

In this one, I completely did get lost in his performance.

It was a well done film, pretty much all the way around. Maybe not Best Picture worthy, only because the topic and the tone didn't really lend itself to that kind of normally serious award.

But, thoroughly entertaining I thought.

The fact that it is a well thought-out and contemplative film makes it all the more upsetting. The Human Centipede and other gore films are so vapid that they lose a lot of their horror. Some of the scenes in Salo, though, are downright painful to watch.

I definitely suggest you give the film a try at some point in your life though. And if you really don't think you can stomach it (which is completely reasonable), check out some of Pasolini's other films (The Gospel According to St. Matthew and Accattone are his best).

Bale is a good actor is just that people see him more as Batman than anything.

Captain Phillips - 8.9/10

An action packed and extremely intense story that was brilliantly done.

heard about 100 opinions of how great this film is. for some reasons the only time i got to watch it i stoped at 10m. probably it has to do with the language, and the fact i hate asian movies ( all asia ).

Saw this gem on Netflix, it completely changed my view on Obama. I knew America did some shady stuff around the world to showcase their "World Police" power. But I had no idea the president himself had his personal unit of assassins that only answer to him and literally fly around the world trying to cross names off "the list", but end up killing women and children. Which they then try to cover up and deny. It's ****ing insane what goes on in the shadows. I realized Bush is Gandhi compared to Obama, can't believe I was fooled by his TV persona. "Hope and Change" my ass.

To The Wonder - 7.5/10

Terrance Malick's take on love in all it's forms. Like all of Malick's work, this is an absolutely beautifully shot film and is visual poetry. But with such a thin narrative and lack of plot, it's not very accessible to people who aren't fans of Malick. I love his work, and I really enjoyed this as well - it has powerful and beautiful moments. But it's certainly not for everyone.

Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen - 9/10

This one might be my favorite one. People shit on this movie and the franchise in general, but I loved every single one of them tbh, what can I say, I love watching giant robots go at it.

Oh and, Megan Fox fell off, she was so damn fine in these movies.

Wake in Fright (1971) - 10/10

A rediscovered classic, one of the most searing, chaotic, terrifying films I've seen in my lifetime. Watching this on the big screen -- with its vivid images of the Australian Outback -- made it all the more better.

Watch this film!

Rush 8/10. Great racing scenes. I like movies about forgotten or obscure sports history.

Dallas Buyers Club 9/10. Excellent film. Matthew McH earned that Oscar.

Lego Movie 8/10. Enjoyable, but a tad bit overrated.

8.5/10

The Coen brothers' take on film noire gangster movies. Reminded me of a more high brow Boardwalk Empire. Nicely shot and quite entertaining, plus Marcia Gay Harden is hot!
