Im not worried about my team, at all. If an owner was to buy the team from Johnson ( please God ) and wanted to relocate he would have to pay the city of Charlotte somewhere around the neighborhood of 200 million since it was in the agreement when Charlotte was awarded the team, and built the arena using 100% tax payer money.

If Bob Johnson can find someone to buy the team from him for 250-300 million AND pay Charlotte 200 million to move the team to another city than he is a miracle man.

450-500 million is not a lot more than what the OKC group ended up paying when you look at sales price, loses incurred while they were still in Seattle and the cost of buying out the lease. You're certainly not going to be able to find a team that can be moved any time soon for less and it's all relative anyway. Ballmer could pay that and not bat an eye.

So if your point was to illustrate that the deal isn't doable, the fact is with Johnson facing mounting financial loses with no end in sight, it's not only doable, it's a very real possibility.

...and isn't ironic that your initial post was about how you've lost all respect for OKC's fans for "damn near boo their players off the court" which was of course a ridiculous exaggeration and then you turn right around and admit that the only thing keeping the Bobcats in Charlotte is the large buyout clause in the lease.

Did you forget Bennett has an out clause after 2014? Most people expect the Thunder to be in KC by then.

Nobody that matters thinks that.

But most people in Washington don't expect Frank Chopp to allow money to go towards an arena this year when the state is facing a 5 billion dollar budget deficit. If the state doesn't allocate the funds then Bennett is off the hook for 30 million dollars.

This is how Brian Robinson views the future if the state doesn't act...

If it does not get done in 2009 then Balmer is gone, the chance of getting Clay’s money is gone, and you can kiss goodbye any chances of getting an NBA team within the next decade. Really this is the last shot. It is over if it doesn’t happen this year. get people doing something about this.

If your an NBA fan in Seattle, it sucks to be you...
