Default CBS Sportsline's top 50 players - where's VC?

Matt Steinmetz of CBS Sportsline has listed his top 50 players. Vince Carter isn't amongst them and neither is Jason Kidd. For the record, here's the list:

1. Kobe Bryant
2. LeBron James
3. Chris Paul
4. Tim Duncan
5. Deron Williams
6. Amare Stoudemire
7. Yao Ming
8. Kevin Garnett
9. Dwight Howard
10. Chris Bosh
11. Paul Pierce
12. Dwyane Wade
13. Steve Nash
14. Dirk Nowitzki
15. Carmelo Anthony
16. Tracy McGrady
17. Andrew Bynum
18. Gilbert Arenas
19. Baron Davis
20. Manu Ginobili
21. Shaquille O'Neal
22. Tony Parker
23. Joe Johnson
24. Brandon Roy
25. Carlos Boozer
26. Pau Gasol
27. Greg Oden
28. Elton Brand
29. LaMarcus Aldridge
30. David West
31. Chauncey Billups
32. Caron Butler
33. Rasheed Wallace
34. Monta Ellis
35. Josh Howard
36. Lamar Odom
37. Richard Hamilton
38. Josh Smith
39. Al Jefferson
40. Michael Redd
41. Andre Iguodala
42. Allen Iverson
43. Shawn Marion
44. Hedo Turkoglu

No VC, RJ or Kidd...

Did he simply forget about them?

He had to. Surely.

I mean, look at just a few of his ridiculous choices (I could mention around 35):
- Shaquille O'Neal at #21 (this is Shaq NOW, not Shaq of years' past)
- Greg Oden at #27 (how many games has he played?)
- Steve Nash at #13? (he's the best point guard of the last five years)
- Yao and Amare above Kevin Garnett?
- Andrew Bynum at #17?
- Ron Artest at #50? (the best defensive player in the NBA who can also score 30 points on any given night)
- Shawn Marion at #43? (what can't this guy do?)

Combined, these add up to destroy his credibility and make him a complete journalistic disgrace.

that writer also lists several second year players as being better than VC, which we'll give the benefit of the doubt on because we're generous, right?

in the end, it's just more of the same old rubbish, ie VC plays as one of the top-20 players in the NBA no matter how you analyse him, but because of the stereotype of him not fulfilling his potential most people underrate him drastically.

and that's a telling sign of a amateur basketball fan IMO.

here's one other theory-

according to his player efficiency rating, carter is the 13th-best player in the NBA with a 21.45 rating. yet due to a glitch at NBA.COM he doesn't appear anywhere on the lists.

so if the writer started his list by taking the EFF list and modifying it, then he missed at least one very important player.

i wonder if anyone is emailing him this fact?

this same clown also listed Vince Carter as the #14 SG in the league and mentioned that he was nearing sixth man territory.

moreover, he listed Deron Williams as the fifth best player in the NBA, but not even the fifth best PG on his list.

Vince def should be to 20 on this list no doubt...But regarding David West...You have to give West his respect. He made himself an allstar by hard work and perfecting his craft. He deserves a spot on this list , if anything at least the 50th spot. I would take Andrew Bynum off this list...
