That is such an unfaird comparison.
Compare guard to guard and Forward to forward

Bibby<kOBE
but both are equally important to their teams

Artest>Odom
thats a lot more fair

If kobe had made that layup....

it would have been one of countless gamewinners KObe has hit in his career. Dont compare K-MArtin and Kobe it is disrespectful. Kobe was more skilled at 18 than Kevin MArtin will ever be.

Kobe choked against the Jazz at 18 and 19.

Artest is a top 15 player and Bibby is a top 5 PG in my book but I don't think Artest can keep his head straight for one full year.
Am I the only one who thinks the Kings aren't a deep team?
Especially last year, they were lacking depth. Didn't they have a 7 man (8 tops) rotation all year long? Losing Bonzi doesn't really help in the depth department.

Still shows Kobe was more skilled. K-MArtin right now would never have been in a position to choke on that Laker team. I doubt he would be in the game or the rotation. It is a testament to his skill that the coach trusted him taking the shot. KMArt would just be on the bench watching.

So skill makes the basketball player? Marbury would be a HOF then. K-Mart more clutch and playoff ready than Kobe at the same age.

Kobe >>>>>>>>>>> Bibby, but both player's teams count on them to provide a lot.

my point was that if kobe made that shot we would be constantly reminded of it as the "glorious shot, over the monstrous shot-blocking Duncan, epitomizing dominance and will to get to the rim" but since Martin hit it,it is just a "trickshot" "lucky" layup.

Kevin Martin got game. Maybe not an all-star but a quality option and even better option than bonzi at this point in his career, which explains the Kings lack of motivation to resign bonzi, even after bonzi's playoff explosion. He is very athletic for his frame. If I had to describe his game, it would be like marion but the guard version. He won't sky over you, but he's got that quick spring. He has all the tools to be an excellent defender. He showed his offensive capabilities in college. Also, most young players with his type of game tend to be reckless, but he has shown that he can make good decisions and will take good shots. He just needs to add weight to that frame and work on the consistency on that awkward shot of his. If he gets a consistent 3-ball, he is going to be dangerous.

Agreed.
This is probably the most fair, unbiased, and adequete assessment of kevin martin's game up till now in this thread.

A better season than the Lakers would have without Kobe. Losing your second best player isnt going to lose you 20 wins. Even if he is your only point guard. All you gotta do is draft someone from Euro league and you are ok. Lakers without Kobe might be the worse team in the league.
