right, so the 2nd and 3rd place votes dont count

Andrea Bargnani, Toronto 1 77 28 264

I have ZERO hope in this guy, to me he isn't going to get any better, if he does it will be something like 15/5. I have lost all faith in the guy, didn't have much to begin with. He is what he is, a 7 foot, jumpshooting, no foot-work, soft on the boards, can't hold other PFs/Cs and not fast enough for SFs. Pretty much a bust.

He's got a point, it being either Bargnani having a good rookie year or that rookie class being really bad.
You decide!

Wow, the anti-European bias on this board is getting pretty bad. Did I ever say in my original post that I thought he was going to be a star or anything close to that? All I said was that he was playing pretty well. I even pointed out that it was just pre-season and that one of the games was against CSKA Moscow, so of course half of the posts cleverly mention that it's just pre-season and one of the games was against CSKA Moscow.

Maybe he'll never live up to his status as the #1 pick, but he's already proven that he's not as much of a bust as Darko or Kwame. 12 points and 5 boards on almost 50% shooting is really good production for a backup big man.

People that follow the team won't understand, these things are better left in the team forum instead of the NBA forum. People here expect production like 20/10 to consider a big man being decent. Sometimes, even that isn't good enough. They do not understand the fact that compared to last year, where Bargnani looked horrible, that he has starting looking better. Made his game inside the arc a lot better than last year and is creating his offense from within the arc. He is also blocking shots this year, something he didn't do at all the first couple of years. His overall defense still sucks, but he is getting better.

Why does it matter if Roy got 128 out of 128 or 127 out of 128? Bargnani was the runner up because he ended up having the second best total. The voting is conducted 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Not 1 and done...

Hard to judge sarcasim on an internet message board...but it was totally Chuck. I remember him talking about all the hate mail he got for making that pick. That was such a joke and he looked like a fool.

However...Bargs has looked better. That's really all we want to see, improvement. Personallly, I am not expecting much.

I have been saying this a bit lately, how are we writing him off after one mediocre season? People are already calling him Darko? Really?
I think this is ridiculous, he had a good, in relative terms, rookie season and a sophomore slump, big deal. Give him a chance other than judging one season and tossing him.

He has indeed improved on this post-move, being more aggressive etc.
Heard he got some muscles over the summer?

it's too early to write him off

he's going to improve this season and keep improving.

will he live up to being number 1? time will tell.

Alright, I admit that I wasn't happy with him last season, but he's doing more than alright in pre-season right now. I have a feeling that he's improved and might be solid this year. I believe he's averaging double figures on points coming off the bench in the entire pre-season. So let's not hate him yet.

Good Point made - point well said.

I lean more to the he will side - but Ive been wrong on these boards at least once before.

Just relax - see what he does this year. Hopefully we will all be pleasently surprised.
