Smile greatest lakers dynasty in history ??

which of the dynasties or great lakers teams is the best in history in your opinions ?? i'll go with shaq and kobe, the showtimers won more rings but they never dominated the way kobe and shaq did after LA signed phil jackson.

As much as i like kobe, i'd have to go with the magic, kareem era (byron scott, ac green) just because of the fact that a center came to our team from a diff team ( kareem, milwaukee, and he wasnt a trader to the Lakers.

respect ur opinion but.......

Showtime Lakers won 5 championships during the 80's and reached the finals 8 times and could have easily be 9 if not by that lucky shot ralph sampson made...........if that's not dominance then i don't know what is.

80's
Lakers - 5 rings
Celtics - 3 rings
Pistons - 2 rings
Sixers - 1 ring

Lakers have beaten all those teams in the 80's !!!!!

thats ok, its nice to disagree and have a nice discussion

but remember that the showtimers were together for an entire decade, they never won 3 in a row and they never sweeped the finals, shaq kobe and phil were only together for 5 years.

true, but the competition was far better........... two of those teams they beat (83 sixers and 86 celtics were considered among one of the best team All-time)

I see where you're coming from, maybe shaq and kobe dominated their league better than the showtime era...........but the question was best lakers dynasty and that i have to give to Showtime, which is in a tougher era.

I find the showtime lakers 8 of 10 championship appearance (winning 5) in the 80's, where the competition was at it's best more impressive than the 3 peat (they beat good teams not great teams).

I'm a great fan of Kobe, but did admit I hated him at first. He came in doing all my best moves but with flight time. I was dam those are my moves, but he did it way better. As for Shaq I never liked him and never will.
The best duo was Kareem and Magic, that was something to remember, all I need too say is when Magic was a rookie and Kareem was hurt," Have no fear Magic here". And he backed it up.

i totally forgot about that.

A rookie leading the team to a championshipwin...that has to be the greatest accomplishment.

Magic might be the best player ever!!!

just because they won 3 in a row doesn't make them better, nor more dominant. in fact, i would bet everything that Magic, Kareem, Worthy, Byron, Coop, etc. would DESTROY Kobe, Shaq, and their cast of characters. DESTROY. Showtime Lakers in 5.

I think I would agree with this as well. There was more depth back then (fewer teams) and the fundamentals of basketball were much more significant as there were not kids coming out early or skipping college. I dont think the Shaq/Kobe team would have had an answer for Kareem/Magic/Worthy and much, much more. Can you imagine Coop in his prime locking down Kobe? Wow, that would have been fun to watch!

Exactly right. Kareem would skyhook all day long. Nothing Shaq, at his best, could do about it. Lakers2000 had no answer for Magic, nor Worthy. Showtime could put Coop on Kobe which would slow him down significantly. Showtime played great D. And rebounded solid.

good point. andy Byron Scott was the 4th pick....so good that they trade Norm Nixon to get him (which was ballsy at the time).
