Default Fan reaction to Oklahoma City name of Thunder

Let's start this discussion again, now that it's official.

The Oklahoma City Thunder.

Think about the name for a bit. Stare at it on the screen. Say it aloud a bunch of times. Let it sink in.

And now, what do you think of it and why?

This name is an epic fail...No matter how many times I say it out loud, I think WNBA basketball.

Well they add themselves to the annual quiz of: name the teams that don't end in a "s." As for the name, it was leaked for several months now and I am not too fond of it, but it's not bad either...

I get the same feel from it…

I said it a bunch of times, wrote it down on paper, said it aloud… sounds like a womans club. Maybe its the way the acronym sounds… OKC (as pronounced: ō-ˈkā sē).

Say it in a sentence:

"Ok, see thunder?"

I thought WNBA too for some odd reason.
I dunno Sparks, Shock, Thunder all seems to fall in line.

I think thought Yobore hit the nail on the head. It won't matter over time and will seem natural.

Really sucks, when you consider what could have been...

Oklahoma City Outlaws
Oklahoma City Bandits
Oklahoma Oilers
Oklahoma City Greed

But compared to Wind, Energy, Rain, Sun, Sleet, and Hail... it's a good name.

Maybe for most…

I am that guy that struggles to accept the current name of the Washington franchise. I still refer to them as the Bullets in conversation.
