Default Changes to FIBA court markings in 2010

Just read that FIBA is adopting NBA's court markings from 2010 on. Very cool.

Yeah, they released this well before the Olympics even. I think it will be a good thing.

It's a bad idea, the nba court is so large it's impossible to defend. Large courts punishes good defense and rewards mediocre offense.

I actually think the opposite. A large court will weed out those players who are less athletic. A small court is easier to defend so a truly good defense won't be able to show all of their ability. A mediocre defense will have an easier time in a smaller court.

Yeah sure that's why basketball players walk up and down the court in the nba. It's so boring

You're not watching the same game I am than. They walk up the court a lot more in international play. Those games are much slower paced.

Compared to a lot of other sports, the basketball court is pretty small. :) But then again it's a 5-on-5 game.

Sure teams never run and gun just to have a chance against the bigger clubs.

I personally just think it's necessary to make rules match more in general so it truly makes basketball a global game.

Well, let's see who invented the game. Last I checked it was Canadian-American James Naismith in Springfield, MA.

Do you really want another nba where the court is so large that the game becomes just a bunch of really tall people shooting jumpshots

Hmmmm.... really tall people who shoot jumpshots. Sounds like the Euroleague to me. Drive inside and kick it out to someone to shoot a short 3. At least a large court makes it a legit shot. Right now they aren't even shooting college 3's.

I can see where you might have apprehension about the trapezoid lane. I can't understand why anybody would be against a bigger court. You're players are evolving. They are getting more athletic. Why would you want to hinder their athleticism? Why do you want rules to allow inferior players the opportunity to compete?

One thing people hate is change. I think in time you will see this change is for the better.

Yes, professional basketball players would struggle against the nba range because of the distance of two additional feet. The most athletic league in the world is the british premire league and the nba isn't even close. The nba cover their quality issues with larger courts and more fouls, it's not a fun league to watch.
