talk about craziness. y is every1 so hung up on trading your team (and future) success to get a player or two now that probably still wont be good enough to win a c/ship.
by the time 2010 rolls on, we will have cleared $27M from our cap: Hughes, Gooden and Gorden. IMHO all three are expendable and not worth their contracts.
That would leave us with a core roster of: Rose, Deng, Hindrich, Nocioni, Noah and possibly Thomas. Not bad for the $27M that they will be paid as a combined total. Plus Rose, Deng, Hindrich and Noah should all have improved significantly.
I know what you will all say, it still leaves us without an inside presence that is going to command a double team.
But then again, in 2010, we have almost $40M under the luxury cap threshold, with a team on the rise and one of the best guards in the league. That would be very attractive to a good low post player who wants to win a championship or three.
So there really is no point in going after someone now and risk ruining the planning for years to come.
