Ok we've got 10 people, plus 2 or 3 more pending. Not a bad start!

GeeWiz, and Sneakerpro, do you have xbox live accounts? GW, did you even buy your 360 yet?
no. no live account, no xbox 360. I'm still doing oddjobs to raise the dough. so don't ink me in for certain. but most likely I'll do it if I can.

Anybody want to tip their hat as to who they're going to try and draft? I'll rank the players from Dallas and Miami, based on what I've observed so far in the demo.

1. Dirk
2. Shaq
3. Wade
4. Terry
5. Williams
6. Walker

Could be just my play style, but it seems like a good big man is the trump card, and the guards take a backseat. I haven't noticed the sf's like Posey, Stackhouse, Haslem one way or the other yet. Anybody agree/disagree?

After playing this, I'd have to agree, I'd probably try and draft Dirk as my first overall pick the matchup problems he presents have finally been replicated in a game.

I'll do the same.

Also, I sent a friend request to all those who listed themselves for the league, not sure it'll matter at all, but meh, felt like being friendly

We should have some way to contact people who forget about playing a game, and to remind everybody before the draft. I guess I could PM people here, but maybe email addresses or AIM screennames would be a good idea too.

Ideally everyone would have everyone else's email, so that they can have an easy way to set up the match against their next opponent. Does that feel like a privacy invasion or just a sensable idea?

Have you guys checked out the 2k7 website? They will keep full stats for our league. You can click on anybody's team, and see every player's detailed stat line, by game, or season average.

Here are some sortable stats from a random 2k6 league I found :
http://online.2k6.2ksports.com/leagu...l=35919&a=sort

If you click on a player's name, it shows game by game stats.

Here's some info on how the draft will work:
http://online.2ksports.com/faq?s=drafts

This is simply my nerdy dream come true. I hope the league works out.

What do you guys think about the idea of having a flex schedule (meaning you can play any opponent at any time) vs having a pre-set schedule, where the game tells you who your next opponent is?

If we had a flex schedule, all we would need to do is set a minimum number of games per week (say two), and all the teams should eventually play each other. Or will they? Would we risk having the same couple teams playing each other dozens of times, while a couple stragglers barely play anybody?

The goal is to make as many players as active as possible.

Bump: Does anybody already in the league have a friend that would like to play? I figure having a friend in the league that you can talk smack to encourages everybody to be more active.

That sounds like a good idea but when we tried it in the past, it had the opposite effect. With a flex sched, there's no pressure on the less active players from everyone to get their games in.

That eventually slows down the league and even active players start to lose interest when they have to wait on folks to get games in before the playoffs can start.

In other words, I wouldn't recommend it...

PS: The games are determined with the flex sched but you can play them in any order...

I'm going to heed your advice Konex. Let's stick with the regular schedule. Do you think 1 game a week for 16 weeks is the best idea?
